Q:Which Merola 3X6 subway tile matches the white in this floor tile best? Thanks!

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Zoe, Unfortunately, we do not carry any 3”x6” subway tiles that are intended to directly coordinate with our Metro Hex Matte White with Flower. We can offer two suggestions, but it would be up to you to determine whether or not these would work for your installation. Our first suggestion would be our Chester Matte Bianco https://thd.co/2KaBYm0. Please note that Chester is made of non-vitreous ceramic, whereas our Metro Hex is made of impervious porcelain. Having a water absorption rating of non-vitreous means that it would absorb more than 7% water; this means it’s not suitable for outdoor installations. This also has a PEI rating of 0, which means that this 3”x6” subway tile is suitable for wall use only. Our next suggestion would be our Park Slope Glossy White https://thd.co/2DbI5j0. Like the Chester, this subway tile has a PEI rating of 0 and a non-vitreous water absorption rating. Please note that our Park Slope has a glossy finish, which would contrast with Metro Hex as this mosaic has a matte finish. If you would like to determine if either of these tiles are right for you, we offer samples! Please be aware that samples come adhered to 6”x6” sample cards which offer a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole pattern. To be able to see the whole pattern, we recommend ordering one case or pack. Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glazed tile. The pattern, shape, dye lot (color) and size of the actual tile received may vary. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity they were sold (in this situation, a case or pack). If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

Q:Is there a corresponding tile trim to match this specific tile? Thank you!

A:  Hi 18Hundred, Our Metro series has coordinating bullnoses in different colors and finishes that might suit your needs! If you’re looking to stay consistent with matte white, we have a standard bullnose, a mosaic variant and a double bullnose corner piece https://thd.co/2DZz90D. If you’re looking for some contrast, whether it be finish or color, we carry a few variations of these trims https://thd.co/2nE6WrM. Please keep in mind that although these tiles are in the same series, they do not come from the same dye lot. As a result of this, the whites might not match up perfectly. We would recommend purchasing a single piece, or pack, to see if it suits your needs. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity they were sold. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  I used this as the floor to my half bath which had a french provincial theme. I had originally planned on using white subway tiles on the wall so as not to take away from the beauty of the floor. I ended up installing white wainscoting topped with black and white toile wallpaper. Came out beautiful.

A:  I was tiling a small bathroom so I didn't use trim, but there were other styles available that could have been used for trim.

A:  I used white subway tile and flat black hex in the shower, with this flower tile on the bathroom floor and a black shiny cove base - it looks great. Had it professionally installed. I know you can’t see the floor tile in the picture, and the picture does not do it justice.

A:  HI SMC, After reviewing both our Metro Hex Matte Light Blue and Matte White, we have confirmed that there is a 1 mm difference between these two mosaics. To be able to make these two mosaics work together, you would need to use additional thinset to boost them up to the same height. Unfortunately, we do not carry any other hex shaped mosaics that would coordinate with our Metro Hex Matte Light Blue. If you are looking to make a flower design, one option you could explore would be to purchase one of our other Metro Hex options and remove the black chips. In this scenario, the white chips would be 5 mm thick and you could substitute one color for the matte light blue. Two examples of this would be our Metro Hex Matte White with Heavy Black Flower https://thd.co/2FJejXi and our Metro Hex matte White with Snowflake https://thd.co/2HGQwnD. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  Hi kath, Unfortunately, the snowflake design in our Metro Hex Matte White with Snowflake is only available in black. If you wanted to make a custom pattern, I would recommend using the Hudson Penny Round Glossy White https://thd.co/2CUu5J1 and the Hudson Penny Cobalt https://thd.co/2DhC0E5. Please keep in mind that mixing tiles may result in slightly different sizes and it’s recommended that you dry-lay the products prior to installing. If you would like to determine if these tiles are right for you, we offer samples! Please feel free to contact our Customer Service department at 800-963-7652 and we can walk you through the process of ordering samples. Hope this helps!

A:  Good Afternoon, We do not offering any coordinating trim pieces with a curved bottom edge for this mosaic. We recommend taking a sheet of this mosaic to your local Home Depot store and match it up with some of their in-stock items to see if anything coordinates. Schluter Trim http://thd.co/1qBLqjw is a great option that we always recommend when there are no coordinating trim pieces. Also, they have many different options for you to explore on HomeDepot.com. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  yes, we used the manual tile nippers to cut them in half for the floor /wall interface

                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  Good Morning Sarah, We always recommend cutting tiles to get around outlets and other obstacles as it gives the most professional final look. If you choose to not cut the mosaics to fit around pieces, we want to let you know that the grout that fills in gaps around these edges may crack and crumble over time. Using this method is ultimately a matter of personal preference because not everyone would like this method. There are ways to cut tile other than a wet saw. Though a wet saw has the cleanest cuts, you can always use tile nippers for the individual chips but be forewarned, tile nippers have the most chance of breaking and chipping the edges of the products. Answer This Question

A:  Hi Maggie, Our Metro Hex Matte Light Blue would be a great addition to your kitchen backsplash! The glazed finish will prevent everyday splashes from penetrating into the tile and staining the surface. We recommend sealing your grout with a penetrating sealer to increase the longevity of your installation and further prevent staining. If you are interested in a trim option around your windows, we do not have any coordinating trims to directly match this product. With instances such as this, we recommend Schluter trim which is found at the Home Depot with many different color options, http://thd.co/1RstfV7 . If you have any further questions, please reach out to our customer service team at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

                        Answer This Question

A:  Good Afternoon, You can order our Metro Hex Matte White http://thd.co/1Xvek1W to coordinate with this product. These products are intended to coordinate together. However, being as the tiles are manufactured at two different times, the whites may vary slightly. If this is a major concern, we recommend purchasing both black and white sheets and popping the tiles off the sheets and creating the snowflakes yourself. Just do not glue the tile to the sheet, as glue can act as a bond breaker to the thinset. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our customer service team at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!
