Q:Which impact is better? The m18 fuel " impact drill or the m18 fuel surge " impact drill? I'm a plumber if that matters

      Answer This Question

A:  I’ve used both. The regular fuel has slightly more power, but they are basically the same and have negligible difference. Surge is noticeably quieter than the regular Fuel. You can’t lose no matter which one you choose.

Q:Has anyone noticed that if you take the battery out when no lights are on, and pull the trigger, the lights come on for a second and then off? If you remove the battery while any of the lights are on, then nothing happens. My other M18 fuel doesn't do it.

        Answer This Question

A:  It?s a residual power, there was a tiny bit of juice left in the drill, powering it only gave the lights just enough power to kick on but nothing more. If you pull the battery out while it?s running it kills anything that potentially sorted up?..

Q:Held out as long as I could because of multiple reports/reviews of the drill overheating/getting too hot too quickly; has this been addressed or worked out yet? SOME of it maybe haters doing their job, but there's too many reviews saying the same things.

A:  We do not recommend using a hex impact to remove tire lug nut's. That is why we recommend using a impact wrench. Thank you! - Social Team

A:  No chance. You'll need the big 1/2" drive impact for lug nuts

A:  We recommend our 2767 M18 FUEL™ 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring eliminates the need to use a pneumatic tool for those stubborn and rusted bolts by delivering 1,000 ft-lbs of fastening torque and 1400 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque. - Social Team

A:  There’s a very very small possibility it will work, but I recommend a mid torque for a 2500 model truck or perhaps the 1/2 big boy impact, but if your needed to save some space in the truck the mid torque will do just fine to remove and reinstall your lug nuts. Just use mode 3 (strongest setting) to remove lug nuts then to tighten them up put it on the auto setting while performing a star pattern first then let setting 2 hammer them down but won’t risk strippings your threads. 👍

A:  If the lug nuts are in good condition and hand torqued with an accurate torque wrench, it will get them off. I wouldn’t use it for that purpose though. If it’s larger than a 17mm I reach for my 1/2” high torque. 11 year experience automotive master tech.

A:  I have a a hitch with 260 ft lb of torque.  It can take it off if I use a wrench on the back side to keep the bolt from turning.  My brother-in-laws mid torque does it more easily and with out a wrench on the other side.  My f250 has 60 ft lb of torque.  It takes those lugs off fairly easily, but the last time I had to get one loose with a wrench for it to catch.  Basically it can take off pretty touch lugs, but it needs a little more time getting going than the mid torque.

A:  No, you'll need the 1/2" version for that. The torque numbers dont really translate that well, assume the number on paper is half what a torque wrench would.
