A: Hi Charlie, The SharkBite 1 in. x 3/4 in. Push-to-Connect Brass Reducing Coupling will not connect to PVC pipe. We do have some PVC fittings but they aren't reducing. I've attached a link to our PVC fittings. If you have anymore questions you can call tech support at 877-700-4242. (https://www.sharkbite.com/us/en/search?s=pvc) Kind regards,

Q:With copper pipe is it entirely optional to take off the plastic tube inside of the shark bite fitting and is there a penalty either way? What about with PEX?

Answer This Question
A: You can remove it for copper. It is meant to stiffen PEX so the shark bite grips/seals evenly around the pipe.

A: There's had been many assumption made regarding the plastic tubing. I heard by taking it off you may damage the fitting. Therefore I will leave it to your discretion. However when it comes to Pex leave it on.

A: Hello,
When installing SharkBite reducing coupling model # U058LFA with copper or CPVC pipe the tube stiffeners can be left in the fitting or they can be removed. When installing this fitting with PEX, PE-RT or HDPE tubing it is necessary to leave the tube stiffener in the fitting. Answer This Question
A: Hello,
SharkBite part # UXL014135 is suitable for use with 1-1/2" CTS (copper tube size) CPVC but unfortunately we do not offer any fittings that are suitable for use with chrome plated brass pipe. These fittings are intended for use in potable water applications and using them in any other application could cause components such as O-rings to fail. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242.

Q:can this be used to increase water flow by turning it around? ex. 1/2 inlet to 3/4 outlet pressure?
by|Apr 18, 2020

Answer This Question
A: Yes it will increase the pressure slightly, but you have to maintain a
Constant pressure and pipe size too your device. It would be
better to increase the pipe size from your source to the device.

A: Hello,
SharkBite reducing couplings will allow you to increase pipe size but will not necessarily increase outlet pressure or water flow. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242.
