SharkBite fittings are the easiest way to join copper, CPVC or PEX pipe in any combination with no soldering, clamps, unions or glue. Just insert the pipe and the stainless steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while a specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect seal. Disassembly is just as fast using the simple disconnect tool so fittings and valves can be easily changed and reused. They can even be rotated after assembly for easier installation in tight spaces. Will this work to connect 1-1/2 in. CPVC pipe to 1-1/4 Chrome plated brass S-Trap Pipe?

Asked by Jesse June 28, 2020

Answer

Hello, SharkBite part # UXL014135 is suitable for use with 1-1/2" CTS (copper tube size) CPVC but unfortunately we do not offer any fittings that are suitable for use with chrome plated brass pipe. These fittings are intended for use in potable water applications and using them in any other application could cause components such as O-rings to fail. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

can this be used to increase water flow by turning it around? ex. 1/2 inlet to 3/4 outlet pressure?

Hello, SharkBite reducing couplings will allow you to increase pipe size but will not necessarily increase outlet pressure or water flow. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

I have pex 1/2 and 3/4 pvc pipe what do i need to put it together

Asked by tommy April 10, 2020

Answer

Hello, We do not offer a fitting suitable for connecting 1/2" PEX to 3/4" PVC at this time. It will be necessary to use SharkBite part # U058LFA (SKU # 284848) to switch from 1/2" PEX to 3/4" PEX. Once you have switched to 3/4" PEX you can use SharkBite part # UIP4016A (SKU # 1001563712) to transition to 3/4" PVC. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

NO. It's called a reducer because most plumbing is run from larger to smaller pipe. If you go smaller to larger it will still work. You won't get better flow unless you are replacing a long run of small pipe that is reducing flow rates.

I have purchased and used various sizes of the shark bite and I absolutely love them. I appreciate the option of buying (for example) one that will go from 1/4" to 1/2" or 1/2" to 3/4" and so on. Or from one size pipe to repair a pipe of the same size. I had one of these on a piece of copper tubing, outside. After about 4 years it did begin to leak, however; it was from the several sections of piping and not from the shark bite itself. I will always depend on these as opposed to doing it the old fashioned way with welding and a high paid plumber (even tho a plumber may be needed sometime). But these are the best option ever. Inside or out, they are very dependable.

I had to drive from Little Elm to this location because it was the only one with a 1 inch CPVC pipe. When I got there the clerk helped me out TREMENDOUSLY! This gentleman not only let me know that 1 inch CPVC pipe is very rare to come by but also that Home Depot did not carry any fittings for it. Feeling discouraged he found this shark bite connection which allowed me to connect the existing 1 inch pipe to a new more standard 3/4th inch CPVC pipe!I was just replacing the T&P gauge on my hotwater heater and this should have taken at max 20 minutes. But because I had to hunt this piece down and kept getting bad information from other places it took all day.I hate that I forgot this man's name but if it had not been for him I would have had to wait until the next day when a specialty store was open to fix this. This gentleman also told me to fill out the survey I just didn't have a chance, Do you have a mobile version?
