Q:Can this system be used to paint ceilings? Any specific precautions I should take?
by|Jul 31, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  I don't think it will work for ceilings. Sprayer should be kept level. Pointing to the ceiling will prevent paint from getting drawn into Sprayer mechanism.

by|Aug 1, 2021

A:  This sprayer can paint a ceiling, but because the paint is held on the sprayer, as the sprayer is tipped up to the ceiling, the spray tube may come out of the paint. When this happens, it splatters paint. When spraying a ceiling, the paint container has to be watched to make sure it is 1/2 full. All sprayers of this design will have the same issue. Your arm also gets sore.

A:  Yes. just make sure to turn the pick up tube that extends into the canister to the rear of the canister since you'll be tilting the sprayer upward, and keep the paint level in the canister full to prevent air being sucked up into the tube which may cause splattering. Be careful not to tilt the sprayer too much. The Flexio 3000 should only tilt up, up to 45 degrees, the Flexio 4000 can tilt up to 60 degrees which makes ceilings easier. We have painted several ceilings using this sprayer. Keep in mind when painting ceilings to use a flat paint (except in bathrooms and kitchens, where a semi-gloss is recommended). Other sheens reflect the light on the ceilings, highlighting imperfections, whereas flat paint minimizes the imperfections. You may take these imperfections as an issue with the sprayer, but In reality they're more likely issues with the drywall finish instead or improper coverage and spray technique. We recommend to spray ceilings twice. The second time at a 90 degree angle to the first coat to get an even coverage and mask lap lines. Good luck with your project.

A:  I did and it worked just fine. Make sure the intake tube is facing down so you can tilt the sprayer upwards at an angle.

A:  Yes, the Flexio 3000 can tilt up, up to 45 degrees to paint your ceiling project. Make sure you turn the pickup tube around to face backwards. Call us for more application tips at 1-800-328-8251.

      Q:How many watts is it?

      Answer This Question

A:  Sorry, could not find any info on the product page or in the manual where it refers to the wattage for this unit. amps is not even referenced, only that it's for std US voltage (110 V). You may want to contact Wagner directly if you need this info. If wattage isn't known but they know the amps, just multiply the amps by the volts to get your wattage. Good luck with your project.

      by|Jul 26, 2021

      A:  The Flexio 3000 is 500 watts.

Q:Can this be used to spray paint strippers like Dumond Smart Strip? And if so, does it need to be thinned?

        Answer This Question

A:  Although I have not sprayed any strippers. I'm sure it will spray them. As long as you thin to the consistency of paint. I hope that this helps.

A:  It may be able to spray a non-caustic stripper like this if it's thin enough. We don't find any viscosity information. Contact us for more help at 1-800-328-8251.

Q:How would this do for smaller projects? For example, painting plastic deck post caps or wood signs.

          Answer This Question

A:  The sprayer will work fine. The only issue is the amount of paint needed to use the sprayer. It will spray what you need and then you can pour the rest back into the quart or gallon container. Cleaning is the same for small or big jobs. Practice spraying on cardboard/wood/metal first to set the sprayer correctly for your job. The sprayer works great.

A:  Smaller projects require the same cleanup. And so the same amount of wasted paint. I wouldn't use a s prayer for a small job.

A:  The sprayer I purchased came with a second smaller sprayer just for this reason. I haven't used mine yet but plan to in the future.

          by|Jul 21, 2021

A:  The detail sprayer (smaller of the two sprayers) is perfect for such tasks. good luck with your project.

A:  For small projects with a fine finish, use the Detail Finish front end nozzle that comes with the Flexio 3000. Thin latex paint 5-10% with water, power at max and paint flow lower for less spitting. Spray from 6" away and apply a wet coat. For more help call us at 1-800-328-8251.

Q:Can you spray polyurate on cabinets
            by|Jun 21, 2021
            2 Answers
            Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you can apply polyurethane to your cabinets with the Flexio 3000. Use the Detail Finish front end nozzle, thin the poly about 5%, power up high and paint flow down low for better atomization. Spray from 6" away and apply a wet coat with each pass. For more application tips call us at 1-800-328-8251.

            by|Jun 21, 2021

A:  I'm assuming you mean polyurethane. the simple answer is yes, it will spray it. The more in depth answer may mean, should you spray it? Read the manufacturer's instructions on application. Most are to be applied with a brush or applicator and especially in the case of a clear top coat a sprayer may put in too much air to give a good finish. Good luck with your project.

Q:I am considering purchasing a Wagner Flexio 3000 HVLP Paint Sprayer to use with Behr Premium Plus paint. However, I have seen several reviews that say Behr paints do not spray well. Will this sprayer / paint combination work or should I look another sprayer? If it will work, what the best way to prep the paint to work in the sprayer?

              Answer This Question

A:  It depends on the project. If you're painting the entire exterior of the house you should consider one of our HEAirless sprayers. Take a look here at the Control Pro series - https://www.homedepot.com/s/control%2520pro?NCNI-5 But if you decide to get the Flexio - There are a few things you can do to paint to ensure it sprays well. 1 - Stir the paint with a mixer in a drill until its creamy smooth, about 1 min per gallon 2 - Strain the paint before it goes into the sprayer 3 - Add a flow agent, like Floetrol or Paint Easy (this is not a thinner) for latex paint – Penetrol for oil based 4 - Or you can thin, even as little as 5% can make a big difference

              by|Oct 5, 2021

A:  We have used this sprayer on many jobs spraying a variety of Behr paints with no issues. You may have to thin the paint slightly if you're having issues, but first test on a scrap piece of material and if the results are not to your liking then thin slightly with water. We have sprayed Behr as well as other paints both straight and slightly thinned and have not had any issues. Some of the cheaper paints we've had to paint a second coat but that's more to do with the quality of cheap paints than with the sprayer. Good luck with your project.

                by|Jun 15, 2021

A:  There are so many variables when reviewers answer (including my answer ha). I can say that i've used this with Behr (both normal latex interior/satin etc), Cabot Stain (not oil) for fence and picnic tables, and even Behr solid deck stain. Nothing clogged it or made it 'spurt' (EXCEPT when i didn't have the tube oriented right in the container - i kept painting above me then the ground and i mixed up which end I had ha so it 'spurt' when the stain wasn't sucked into tube it was all on the otther side of container). I honestly thought this would be a '2 use' sprayer from hearing stories about ALL sprayers - I just wanted it for a huge fence, but i've done like 8 projects; i'm on today i'm going tto spray interior room with sherman williams paint ("Interior Latex Flat") which i also heard sprayers had trouble with but I had none in my other room. IMO (in not a pro at ALL - i paint when my wife not here so i dont get yelled at lol) - read the manual on what it can handle AND read the paint you're buying - there WAS one oil specialty paint for decks the gallon said "not recommended for sprayers" - when a product says that, you know there is no way it will work ha. Make sure the sprayer is on the recommended setting too (I had it too low once by accident and it had 'drops' i noticed right away, just needed more power and worked awesome). Good luck. Oh Clean it well too. Soak the nozzles, they come off very easily.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Sure, if you thin the gel enough to spray, almost any sprayer could work, but it's no longer gel stain. For a philosophical conversation about gel stain and what it means, contact us at 1-800-328-8251.

                  by|May 24, 2021

A:  I do not know of a consumer sprayer that can spray that viscosity of material. There are industrial sprayers. This sprayer will not! Gel stains can not be thinned, otherwise the purpose of gel stain is gone.

                    by|May 23, 2021

A:  Gel stains normally are NOT sprayed.. gel stains are applied with a brush or a rag, wiped in and then the excess wiped off. Good luck with your project.

A:  I don't believe that it will. Unless you thin the stain and that defeats the purpose of the gel.

A:  According to most gel stains, application is via brush or lint free rag. Check out the stain you're considering using and read what the manufacturer recommends for application with their stain. Good luck with your project.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Our Flexio HVLP models can use water and oil based paints, stains and finishes. The 3000 comes with two front end nozzles. The iSpray is for your fence, deck or walls and will leave a roller like texture (orange peel) when using unthinned paints. The Detail Finish nozzle is for your trim, furniture and cabinetry. Using thin or thinned materials, will leave a quality finish. Start with the power at max and the paint flow lower to eliminate spitting. The perfect setting is maximum flow of paint but with minimum spitting of paint. Application. You should be spraying from 6” away for most projects, especially when you want a fine finish. This is where the best atomization of the paint occurs. You should apply a wet coat with each pass. Not 5 passes to get it wet. One pass = one coat. “Wet” means that you cannot see individual droplets where you already sprayed, just wet paint, but not so wet that it puddles, runs or sags. Having the project lying down and spraying down onto it is ideal as gravity will help the finish level.

A:  Morning! What makes this sprayer, so good is its versatility. You can use Latex paints. Semi or semitransparent stains. The kind of paint doesn't matter; because, you are allowed to adjust the material flow. Using the Ispray nozzle also allows the adjustment of the air power.

A:  I would think that you could use any deck paint. You will not have to thin the paint.

                        by|May 22, 2021

A:  This would be more of a question for paint, than the sprayer. The type of paint or stain you use could depend on the current finish you have on your deck. You can check with the paint department at Home Depot and they can show you the different types of paints and stains. Was it painted before or stained? re you looking at changing the color or staying with what you have? What is the condition of the deck? You may need to go with something like Restore if it's in poor shape and need a thicker finish coat. The type of paint or stain you choose will also dictate how to apply it. Things like restore will need to be brushed or rolled on. Most other paints and stains can be sprayed. You will need to check the type of paint/stain you will be using to see what the manufacturer recommends for application. Also, if it needs to be thinned, the product you use will let you know how much to thin it. Good luck with your project.
