A: Hello, Thank you for your interest in Smart Tiles. Smart should only be installed on smooth surfaces that are without texture. They are very thin (.07in) and flexible and if there is an uneven surface the imperfections could be apparent. If you would like fill the hole, sand and apply primer, the tiles could then be installed on the surface.

A: Smart Tiles can be installed directly over your existing backsplash, whether it is glass or ceramic provided that your surface is smooth, sleek and without texture. You must also take into consideration the width and depth of your existing grout lines as this might affect the outcome. We recommend discussing installation with a customer care associate.

A: You may have to paint after. I applied the tiles and repositioned several times. However, after they were in place for more than an hour, the paint was peeling off when I tried to reposition them.

A: Hello, Thank you for your questions.
Smart Tiles should be installed on a wall that is smooth, sleek and without texture. You might need to sans down to make a smooth surface, it is also important to have at least one coat of paint primer that has been cured for 72 hours before installing Smart Tiles. They are easy to remove with little to no damage, depending on the surface they were installed on. To make it easy, use a blow dryer to warm up each tile to soften the adhesive and pull softly starting with the corners. Use a cleaning product to wash the wall and remove any excess glue left by the Smart Tiles. You might need to paint the wall after removing them.
