I just installed this product. It installed easier than wood and looks nicer. I bought this product because it will not rot and I will not need to paint it since it is white. I got tired of painting my old wood frames each year. I am hoping this product will hold up under temperature changes due to expansion and contraction. I will know more a year from now. I only gave it a four star rating since I don't know how well it will hold up.

As advertised, the jamb can be used for both interior and exterior. There is a major flaw. If you take out the weather stripping (for interior use), and place door hinges where they are to go, there is about 1/2" gap between the molded in door stop, so it does not meet up for interior use, unless you leave in the weather stripping (in an exterior door???) Plus there is no such jig or template sold anywhere to place on the jamb because the molded in door stop is in the way and you can't set a jig up flush for routing out the hinges. You have to make your own jig. This should not be advertised as for interior use, because it is not. I'm disappointed.

My side door, without storm door, is in very bad shape. The steel door is OK, but the door jamb is rotten. Most other door jambs are made by wood and I do not trust them. this composite door jamb is what I need. It is easy to install, just like wood. (PS, to get best protection, I installed storm door on my side door too.)

Composite Door Jamb Moulding
Perfect item for my job. Arrived early. Easy to install. One of the side jambs, however, did have some dings in the face. Not acceptable for my house but since this was for an out-building, I let it go.

PVC rabbited door jamb set
I had a Steel door out of the garage with wood jamb that was rotting. The door is like new. The new jamb was easy to rout out for the hinges and strike. It does not need to be painted and will not rot. This door is in an area that gets a lot of snow and rain againest it! Great solution for my problem.

Great product
This is a high quality and affordable product, enough so, so that they home depot should carry it in their stores. The door jambs are long enough so that you will need to cut them to fit, but they are as easy to cut as wood. There's no need to paint them and they will NEVER rot, which are the main reasons that I bought them. But, you can paint them if you want. You don't have to buy special screws for this but I did (FastenMaster Cortex for Azek Trim), because I also bought PVC trim and I didn't want to caulk the holes or have to paint them. I installed the door jamb and trim myself. It was my first time installing jambs and it took a while, but it looks great.

exellent replacement of jamb
excellent better than composite this was PVC composite this was not like regular composite like HD was selling - smooth finish like PVC, not like standard composite - should be carry in store for replace jambs - labors to high to replace jambs with treated pine or T&G pine that comes with standard jamb door have gone to ordering exterior doors with PVC jambs for new door or replacement fully hung doors

First Experience with Cellular PVC Door Jamb
This was the first time I have tried to install a door jamb made of cellular PVC. It is a very attractive white color and comes with a warranty against rot, insects, etc. that made it ideal for the new exterior door on my girlfriend's art studio.
The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, but the built-in door stop and weather strip interfere with the use of a router template for the hinge and latch mortises. Also, I made the mistake of following the illustration for installing the threshold (or sill plate) which requires removing part of the built-in door stop at the bottom of the door. My threshold was rounded rather than a simple slant as illustrated, so I had to carve the curve with a utility knife (NOT EASY!), only to discover I had removed too much material from the outside edge of the jamb. Luckily, I'd saved the pieces I had cut out, so I simply modified them and glued them back in place with PVC cement..
My only other problem was that the long sides of the jamb are pretty flexible, so you have shim them along almost the entire length of both sides of the door or they will bend out of proper alignment. The wooden jambs I've installed are not nearly so flexible. All in all though, I very pleased with the final results and the door fits perfectly into this new jamb.
