Very good quality I have the matching rake. I will eventually get all the garden tools from this brand.

I love the metal, no splinters

Had a previous Ames shovel that I liked, except one foot flange broke off. Was still under warranty, contacted Ames, with no result - but I really had had my use of it. Bought this as a replacement - it really is poor. While the steel seems well tempered, it does not fracture or permanently bend, the blade is at the right angle, and the handle strong enough, the blade lacks stiffness - probably just too thin a metal gauge. If you stand on the shovel, or use any impact motion to try to penetrate solid ground, the blade basically just flexes. You wind up using a good haly of the effort you are putting in to bend the brade, and the remainder to move earth. While I don't consider myself to be that weak yet, I am 70, and not what I used to be, so if it is too weak for me, it is really going to slow down a guy in his prime. Liked my old wood handle one, would NOT buy this again, and might try to figure out a way to return it.

After 2 month use, the connection between the head and handle become loose. Every time I put my foot on it, the head slightly twists.

Great shovel and built at good quality.

The handle broke in less than 15 minutes of use.

The rubber padding at the top came apart within an hour of use. I would return it if I could.

Bought me a shovel; dug me some holes; the shovel works!

Highly recommended it has a soft grip and very firm.

This is an epic piece of crap. The first time I tried to use it, it broke after about 20 mins of use. The wood handle snapped at the base like a toothpick while I was digging in soft dirt. Don't try to save money with this, spend a little more for quality and that will last.

Dug out a small tree stump the day I bought this and while I did here a little creaking and cracking while leveraging the stump, it has held up well.

Lightweight and the right size for use in residential beds and gardens

It's a shovel, it worked.

The handle started cracking on the first use. Although this is not the worst shovel I have used it close to the top of the list.
