Digging in the dirt where I live is not so much digging as it is busting what seems like cement. So I need a shovel that is up to the task. I found tis one to be extremely well made and tough. I mainly us it in the garden and for digging up small trees and shrubs. The long handle gives me plenty of leverage for lifting things up and out of the ground, or for breaking roots. The closed back design, which is an additional piece of metal welded onto the back, helps to strengthen the shovel and keep it clean. I plan on moving a number of young fruit trees this autumn, and I know this shovel is up to the task and will make the job a lot easier.

This round point shovel is built like the used to make shovels. The Razor-Back has a solid thick wooden handle with high strength welds for a long lasting tool. I recommend this shovel over the typical fiber glass handle shovels because it seems more durable and long lasting. I recommend it for hard digging. A high quality traditionally made shovel.

What a nice shovel. This shovel has a great digging head on it. Nice and sharp and gets a good "bite" in the soil, even through weeds. It is shaped really well and has a nice wide area to put your foot on. That really helps if you have feet that aren't really tough, like I do. I do like the length of the handle. One thing I don't care for so much is that the finish on the handle is a little rough. For me it isn't a problem, as I always wear gloves when working outside.

Time to replace the old cheap shovel and I decided to step-up in quality with the new Razor-Back 48 in. Wood Handle Digging Shovel. What’s unique about this Razor-Back Shovel is the heavy gauge steel blade with closed back that prevents soil build-up. This closed-back feature is especially helpful for clay soil, which easily sticks on shovels and increases the drag and effort needed to dig a hole. The Razor-Back Shovel also comes with a very sturdy hardwood handle and extended (11 inch) metal neck with dual rivets that increases the strength of the shovel. This is a pricey shovel, but is very high quality, and Made in America. The manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

Razor-Back 48 in. Wood Handle Digging Shovel by Ames Tool Company What more can be said about Ames Tools. They have been providing great quality tools for the nation since 1774! I needed a shovel for backyard projects, so when the Home Depot Seeds Program offered this Ames shovel I quickly chose it. I received it in good order shortly thereafter. The shovel is made of hardened steel with rolled top for good foot placement. The handle is made of oak and is of good strength. The blade pitch is sharp to help cut through the toughest dirt and small roots. I have no hesitation in recommending this shovel. I rate this shovel 5*s out of 5. Thank you Ames Tools and Home Depot Seeds for offering this.

This Razorback Professional Tools 48 inch digging shovel has a nice solid wood handle and heavy duty brackets holding the shovel to the handle. The handle has a light finish on the wood and the wood is grainy to the touch. It has a good thickness to the shovel metal body itself. Well weighted. It has a life time warranty. This shovel in made in the USA.

I really needed a new shovel and this shovel is really nice. My last shovel I was using it to dig and the tip of the shovel broke off. I did have that shovel for a long time. But having a new shovel really made all the difference. The ground I had to dig in is not easy to dig. A lot of it is clay and rocks, but this shovel seemed to do well, got my hole dug. This shovel is built nice and seems to be well made, should last as long as my last one.

This is a 48 inch shovel the handle is very smooth. On top of the shovel there is a flat piece on both sides of the shovel to help push the shovel down in the dirt. The shovel looks like it is coated to help to prevent rust and corrosion on the shovel and to help it to last longer. The shovel is not to heavy and perfect In moving dirt and gravel to where every you need it.

Great digging shovel! Comfortable foot level on both sides of the shovel to really dig down deep. The handle is 48 inches long with a deep socket for the hardwood handle, which makes it harder to break the handle where they meet up.The shovel has a closed back so that it isn't getting dirt behind the shovel. The actual shovel looks powder coated which reduces a chance for corrosion or rust. Strong and sturdy handle. Not heavy to use to carry/move dirt or gravel, etc.

this is a 48 inch digging shovel, the wooden handle is nice and smooth, there are no rough edges where you might get splinters, the metal shovel part is made of nice heavy duty steel, it is a nice weight but not too heavy, there is a nice spot on the top of the steel part if you were to be digging a hole, to put your foot on to push into the hole or dirt ! great product with i hope to use for years to come!
