Beautiful hardwood floors are a product of nature and therefore not perfect. Every board, even when taken from the same tree, is different in color shade and grading. The Plano collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character, such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes as well as minor milling imperfections.
Hardwood is a natural product which can scratch or dent with enough direct pressure to the surface of the wood. There is, unfortunately, nothing that any hardwood flooring manufacturer can do to the wood to make it impervious to scratching, nicking, denting, etc.

The Plano Collection is part of Bruce’s Natural Grade category which features a greater amount of visual character such as wider color and grain variation, mineral streaks, knots and small holes as well as minor milling imperfections. Our wood floors are manufactured in accordance with accepted industry standards, which permit grading deficiencies not to exceed 5%. These grading deficiencies may be of a manufacturing or natural type. When flooring is ordered, a 5% must be added to the actual square footage needed for cutting and grading allowance. Any boards that do not seem acceptable should be culled out. Once the floor boards are installed, even if there is a manufacturing defect, or there is an undesirable appearance, the industry standard is that it has been deemed to be acceptable by the installer and the end user.
