Constantly having to sign in. If I leave it alone, 5 minutes, I have to sign in again. The night vision and sound are non existant. I've emailed all the pics and gave customer service everything they asked for a refund, and haven't heard a word back. These are garbage and I would NOT recommend anyone getting these. They are the right height, on my eaves, and my home is on a cement slab. I've googled all I can to learn how to correct the problems and found nothing useful.

This is my second Defender set. The first on was great day or night THIS ONE IS BLIND AT NIGHT

I have been with defender for a long time now ( 5 years or so) and when lightning took out my DVR I did not hesitate to come back to Defender for a new system. As normal, they delivered my system very quickly. The packaging is very well done. Everything was in the box and so easy to set up. I didn't think it possible, but this new system outshines my last one. Being able to adjust setting for each camera is a plus i didn't expect. And the zoom maintains the same great quality, not losing any clarity. Overall, I am very pleased with my system and the customer service I have been getting to help me through this process of replacing my old system. Right from the start, they have been so helpful in diagnosing my old system, answering all my questions on what would be best for my situation. I would HIGHLY recommend Defender for all your security needs.

Just an OK review because the cameras are just OK. No left/right movement & narrow field of view. & no option to upgrade cameras. User interface is VERY confusing to me. I'm not computer illiterate, but the interface is confusing. However, set up instructions were good. Never got email notification to work. Images are pretty good. cables are good. Box & wires are a mess. That's not a knock on this brand, but in wired systems.

Great product with awesome Monday through Friday support! The live chat has always solved any problem and questions about modifications to the system. I enjoy the push notifications for alerts as to something going on. Great system! Incredible price! Excellent customer service!

I purchased this DEFENDER security system on sale for less than $300. My (technically inclined, electronic engineer) son spent about six hours installing the four cameras, but WOW ... the resolution is AMAZING, better than we expected! The photo(s) I include don't do it justice. We are still playing around with the features and have a lot to learn; playback is easy and the email notifications work through the app. Wish the system had remote adjustment for the cameras.

I bought the 4K1T4B4V2 model system in based on the description, on August 10, 2020 in the description it is announced as a 4K tv lines and 20 fps system, which is a lie, the maximum output of this DVR is 1080P and the max fps is 8fps. I contacted customer service several times to try to solve this but we did not reach any solution, they told me that the system that I bought only has 1080p output and that the 6 and 8 camera systems do have output in 4K Basically to get a real 4K system you would have to buy the 6 or 8 camera systems. The purpose of my complaint is to make this situation known, and that other people are not misled by this company. User's recommendation: Do not buy this system, look for a real 4K security System cameras.

Very easy to install and setup! Used a 1” concrete drill bit to drill through brick, pulled wires through no problem. Two sets of wires will go through the 1” hole. Hardest part of the job is fishing the wires through the walls/ceiling. Buy a fish tape. Connection to DVR was simple with color coded connections on back. Connected cable to HDMI 2 on tv and labelled it PC, use tv menu and it’s right beside Netflix. Don’t use any IP or PTZ camera settings in PVR menu! Don’t go crazy adjusting menu settings but keep password strong. Setup Defender 4K APP and adjust cameras with phone right in front of you. On a scale of 1-10 for installation, I’ll give it a 8 for average person. For a pro, easy 10. At night time, use the APP to fine tune for night vision so the light lines up where you want to see. Daytime will be perfect after that. Simple

Clear pictures on the cameras. You can zoom in to see things further away and it’s still clear. Installation was not bad since we already had an older Defender system and were just upgrading for a more clear picture. The old one lasted 9 years and was still going. The step by step instructions were great and make the setup a breeze. Love it!

Buy your set today , don’t pass go, don’t think about it, don’t second guess, don’t look any farther , this is an awesome system with the most features at the lowest cost, defender will stand behind there product , don’t wait , get it now...

I purchased a First set of the 4 k cameras and DVR system a week ago, it arrived and I was so blown away by the cameras and all the features of DVR and the app, that I immediately ordered a second set , I also recommended to my neighbor 3 doors down and she ordered a set the same next day, I installed mine and hers today and all’s I can say is wow over and over , I couldn’t be more pleased with how hers and mine turned out , I love how ya can see all in the app, even thought it’s two separate dvrs, I have one set hooked up with the most important cams showing on a monitor and the second set just to view in the app, the notifications are the best feature of this system , although the entire system is incredible, as I’ve said in my first review the cameras picture quality is awesome, and the field of view is way wider that my previous cameras, along with the dvr options and the apps options you can’t go wrong with DEFENDER SECURITY CAMERA SYSTEMS, they have always stood behind there products with me, that’s all I got to say in my honest strait forward review about my recent purchase ...

I’ve had several Defender security Camera system through the years, and have never been disappointed, however after receiving the NEW 4K camera system I have to say I’m more blown away by the picture quality of these cameras and the features of the DVR not to mention the Defender 4K app, if your looking into a new system or replacement system look no farther , this is the one to order and don’t look back your gonna be blown away by the picture quality, ease of dvr use and the app, your not gonna find a better system for the low price... the notification are awesome .... get yours today....

Bought this May29 2020. The quality is great. The camera resolution is fantastic, day or night. The software is feature rich, has many options. The mobile app is what pushes this over the value limit, being able to monitor or playback remotely. I chose the hard wired system, because regardless of whether the internet is up or down, this unit is always recording. I recommend this to anyone looking for a security system.

This review is for the previous version of this set but after having such a terrible experience with that Defender system I will never buy one of their products again. Here's why: 1. Bad camera quality. It came with 8 cameras that are very grainy and you can forget about reading license plate numbers. Also at night, the cameras will refuse to go into night mode (night vision) when they detect even the slightest bit of light (street light off in the distance). 2. The DVR will literally stop recording at random intervals. I've gone back to check on recordings only to find out that it completely skipped those few minutes. It seems to get confused when it detects motion, which is the opposite of what you want from a surveillance system. This happens even when the settings are set to "always record". 3. The user interface inside the DVR is very glitchy and cumbersome to work with. When you try to click to a specific point in the recording it bugs out and exits the screen. There are also options to move the cameras around even though it's completely useless because the cameras aren't motorized. 4. After about only a year of having it the hard drive went out and had to replace it. All in all it's a pretty terrible system and you should avoid the Defender brand. I paid $400 for the system and wish I would have saved that money to buy a much better quality product.

What a great camera system. Easy to use, easy to set up, great picture quality. Definitely recommend this product! You get what you pay for.

Bought for home protection Easy to install & set up

I got the 4k 4 camera system for x mas and installed the cameras on the four corners of the house watching our house and vehicles. Took me about 3 hrs by myself to fish the wires through the attic and down the wall to the living room tv but the system is well worth the money and has great quality.

This is the second system i've purchased and I really like the quality and ease of use. I bought one for my home and my parents home as well and i can monitor both systems from my cell phone. The setup is a little daunting if you're not familiar with everything but the online or phone support is very good. I usually get a chat response within a minute of request and the people on the other end are very helpful and patient.

You would think that would be difficult, but the cables included are VERY long, and allowed for placement throughout my home without them tripping people up. I did have to get guards for a couple of spots. The manual part of the setup was the major part of the process...the interface took only minutes to set up and connect, and the app was even faster. There's even a mouse included. You do need a flash drive to save your password information, but even that is just a few clicks. The clarity of the images is amazing. I was impressed with the ability to stay clear even with objects in motion. There are two recording options, continuous or motion detected. Continuous is, well, continuous, and works well. The motion detected setting was very well calibrated...it didn't just set off at every little motion, like my ceiling fan. You know it's recording because an icon appears on the image onscreen. The app is very simple, but gives you what you need: realtime access to the cameras when away. This will ease my mind considerably when I'm away, letting me check in on my family and pets. It works well even a fairly long distance away. This is a nice system for those who want a quality item that doesn't require a tech degree to set up. I recommend it highly.

There's a decent night view, so far unable to read a license plate at night of someone on our property, I'm hoping we can improve that with a different angle. Setup was ok for someone with experience and installation was very easy. Had some difficulty getting the app setup, but after that it is working great.

Unfortunately there of been a lot of break-ins in our neighborhood and that’s why we needed one. The defender comes with four cameras which is perfect for our house. The cameras are small enough to not be that noticeable. And are the perfect color to blend in with our house. Using the app we are able to access all of the cameras and keep an eye on our house when we are not home. I would highly recommend the defender Home security system to anyone that is looking for one.

The way the cameras are designed make it difficult for criminals to remove. The night vision capability of this camera is awesome. Yes neighbors I see your dog visiting my yard nightly! The cameras come with a 4 channel DVR with 1TB HDD. The DVR can display in either 4k or 1080p. It will also record if it connected to the internet. If you have a smartphone with the right requirements you are able to watch live anywhere you go, you can also get instant notifications. I like being able to watch and that way I can keep track of my child's coming and going when I am unable to be home. The cameras come with easy to understand instructions, if you can install a ceiling fan you'll have no trouble with installing this system. Each camera comes with 60 foot of cable to get some distance between each camera allowing you to watch more areas. The cables are all marked and are easy to connect and hook up. All in all this system is a great setup for home or business security.

It was very easy to install with the manual and went onto the Defender website and found out how to install the app on our phones which was easy as well. The performance is great. with long range, with wide views and is motion detected. Our cat had been in may of the views that's for sure. Love the fact our home is protected and we can see whats going on while were not home. I highly recommend this system to anyone looking .

The set up seems overwhelming at first because it is wired but it really was not difficult at all to set up. The DVD player is slim and small and takes up no room at all wherever you put it. The picture quality of the cameras is fantastic! I am so impressed. I love that I can now monitor my home, inside and outside when I’m not there. It really puts my mind at ease. They give you plenty of wire to make it easy to connect your whole house. I would highly recommend this system!!

The Defender 4k was so easy to set up and I have to say so much clearer than the other systems I currently have. I love the added features this has such as plate recognition and face recognition. It also has times when someone entered, which is an added benefit. This is a great system and so easy to set up, so if you have been concerned about installing a complicated system trust me from experience this is completely user friendly!

Aside from the complexity of installing/hiding wiring in attics and walls, the Defender 4K was very easy to install. The power connections, wiring and connections are very well made, well marked and a breeze to connect. My only issue was the DVR power supply out of the box would not power up. A new power supply and DVR is being shipped out, and once it is installed, I'll update the review. Looking forward to having the peace of mind Defender 4K will bring.
