Extremely loud fan
They replaced my first dvr and the 2nd is just as loud. I planned on the DVR being in my office but there is no way I can tolerate the non stop noise. This is my 3rd Denferder camera system and I am extremely disappointed

    I purchased this system months ago and just installed it. It was super easy and the app to connect to it was just as easy to connect to. Had another brand for years and I should have done this sooner. Tech support also was just as great.

      I bought these cameras this past summer due to crime increasing in my area. These cameras are great and even the police have commented on the great footage, as they have taken footage 3 times from me since I got them set up. I was concerned about them working in extreme cold and right now we are in a cold snap of -37c over night with wind chill of close to -50c and they are working great with no issues!

        So Good brought a second one.
        This is our second one of these we have purchased. Loved the first one, so easy to work with and monitor off site. This second one is going to replace a existing security system of a different company, which has always been hard to work with.

        I had installed, this my second defender product and had poor night vision - HOWEVER - I contacted the support and they resolved the issue very quickly by helping me see what I needed to do to get better night vision- the problem was the placement and angles of the cameras - not resolved - I'm back to loving my 8 camera system

          Great System
          Came faster than expected. Unit seems solid and easy to setup. Have not yet been able to do a complete install of all cameras but what I have been able to get completed they are working well and great image. A good deal of settings to work through to tweak them as you wish. I have mine connected to my 55 inch tv in our living room and used a wireless mouse instead of the wired one sent. Works great! Choose the wired cameras as I have the space to hard wire them without the wires being exposed. This gave me the 2T hard drive as well as power and a better image so shouldn't have any issues with overwriting something that I may have wanted to keep. Still playing with the system but like it so far.

          Picture quality is quite good for the price, was surprised. Only thing I don’t like so far is that I had to mount a camera sideways to get a taller narrower picture to cover my whole driveway. The image on the app or display monitor is sideways and can’t be rotated.

            Great Surveillance system for DIY'ers
            Overall I love the Defender 4K and would recommend it to anyone. Only reason for the 4 star instead of a 5, is the cables on the cameras could make installations easier if the cable was 6-10 inches longer. Here in Florida you are almost always going through or over a cement block wall and it makes it difficult with the current length.

Biggest down sides are cables/connectors are NOT outdoor rated so you have to take steps to weatherize, and the user interface doesn't allow a keyboard, so you do everything with a wonky mouse.

                The screws on the cameras are so tight they cannot be unscrewed. Not even with an electric screwdriver. Not even the strongest man. The camera is useless if I cannot adjust it. I would like to get an exchange for one of the cameras.

While the 4K does not come equipped with audio, you can purchase a microphone with RCA connections from a third party. The microphone connects to the back of the DVR and is run to the area in which you want to hear sound.                   Great 4K system
                  I bought this system because of the 4K and good reviews I leave on a dead end road and my wife needed some peace of mind knowing she could look outside without opening the door. The cameras have good quality and the distance is great even at night.I like the easy setup and installation it was simple. Only thing it only turns up or down and I need it to turn right on two cameras to get a better view and if it did it would be a five star I recommend this system very highly. 100% better than a Sony system my neighbor has.
