This does work as advertised. The difficulty is that the wire is very flimsy. I will be looking for a better product as this will not last long.

This product did not do its purpose. The end tail metal holder broke off as soon as two days later after it was purchased.

Followed packaging install instructions. Cable easily broke from latch after a week of use. Disappointed with quality of material.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. THE PACKAGING WAS WORTH MORE THAN THE PRODUCT !!!

The new hook style is a great improvement over the prior pin-style. Here's hoping it stays put.

Doesn’t include the rings.

I tried this out and wished I’d done it earlier. Makes it easier for guests and family members to open the gate and hinders peoples access that don’t know it’s there. Perfect purchase!

As advertised, just what I needed.

It looks great! I used this in conjunction with the Everbilt Self Adjusting gate latch and found it to be unreliable. Once the wind blew and jiggled the gate a few times, the stiff cable unlatched the gate and kept unlatched. I replaced the steel cable with a piece of small diameter duck decoy anchor cord. That has worked fine over a short time so far.

These don’t last very long, they break easily

Cable broke the first day on the second use. It is very lightweight and inadequate for a gate - maybe a very small light door - but not for a standard size. All in all, a big disappointment and total waste of money

Economical, simple, and easy replacement.

Too short for expensive item. The catch is cheap and flimsy and rusts with the first rain.

This looks like a very useful gate accessory. I have just installed it so I am unable to speak to how long it lasts, either from fraying problems or weakness at the "solder" joints. I hope it will hold up well. I gave it a four instead of a five because of the width of the catch clip. The clip is designed for the 1/8" wide catches on most of the small residential gate latch sets. I am using a heavy duty latch which I was unable to purchase at Home Depot. It has an 8" bar and a 1/4" wide catch. The clip will not work with the 1/4" wide catch. I used a #6 machine screw, three washers and 2 nuts to attach it to the side of the catch. Time will tell how well that is going to work. I also don't want to leave the wire loop out all the time, so I drilled a 5/8" hole in the gate post and pushed in a piece of 1/2" pex. I can't drill straight so the hole is egged out and the fit is not very good, but the plastic makes a nice smooth surface to push the cable against. This would probably not be a desirable action for many folks because of the large hole, but in my case the exit point is hidden so the appearance doesn't matter. The cable pushes in, and pulls out, of the pex very smoothly.

Broke upon installation as it’s cheaply made however we were able to make it work as we mostly really needed the wire
