I found a youtube video which was very helpful. I took one spring end off and inserted the spring end into the bracket, marked the open end with a pencil where it met the other bracket, cut off the excess and inserted the spring end. It fit perfectly.
My only complaints are that the rod is only 3/4 inch as opposed to the original which is a bit wider, and also that the plastic used is not as sturdy as the original material. It works, though, and was a minor repair.

Exact replacement for the one that broke. Good instructions, although the measurement that they tell you to use to cut the bar to length would not allow the towel bar ends to be inside the wall brackets. Only the inserts would be in the bracket. I allowed about 1/8 inch longer and it works fine.

Not worth the trip to the store
Material is flimsy. It is a brand new bar yet it is sagging worse than the old one which was 15+ years old and only broke because plastic became brittle. The diameters is also smaller than the previous bar, so there is a lot of vertical play, even if after a snug fit into the holders.

Just what I needed. Family uses towel rack in.back of shower for shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap. Convenient but, well you know. Buy a couple at a time. Somewhat thin, but of course not it’s intended use.

The rod is very good & sturdy & would have been an excellent fit but I needed 20in; too bad it was returned. I must say this brand replacement rod was my only option as there were no other replacements offered of this craftsmanship without replacing wall brackets.

The towel bar was too long. This could easily be remedied by increasing the amount of bar length that's compressible. Literally , the bar could be made where it compresses half it's length, and then it would fit a much wider range of supports. Instead it squeezes in 2-3 inches on both ends....NOT ENOUGH

Significantly smaller in cross section than standard bars in my house (.625 vs .825) so it is loose in the mountings, but I can hand up the towels. Easily trimmed and installed. Good for what it is.
