Great price easy to install suppose to last a long time

There is no wonder to me that this has about 4.6 stars by over 30 reviewers. This is a 'best buy.' This filter is easy to install into any fridge water line.. which will be your typical 1/4 tubing in either plastic or braided, which goes into the rear of your fridge. This filter allows for taste-free ice and helps ensure purified water. I've used other residential types which only last 6 months. This type is more like commercial grade, & lasts 5 years. It's price is not too crazy, as compared to other filter systems.

Just a comment about person whos filter change light went on after 6 months, that is correct filter, lights are merely 6 month timers have nothing to do with the filters condition

Purchased refrigerator and this filter at the same time, both installed Aug 2015. 6 months later the change filter indicator light is on. We do not have a water dispenser and only use this for ice maker, have made about 4 of the refrigerator's ice containers volume of ice. We understand it depends on the municipality's water quality and that in Arizona the water has outrageously high sediment but 1/2 a year is well below all expectations we had for this filter. Not worth the "long life" claims.

Great product. Easy to install and works great. I've used this brand before and the product lives up to the advertised long service life.

Since my original installation was a DYI from a previous owner, this filter worked as a direct replacement. The fittings are 1/4", which is the size of the original installation, so this made installation fairly easy since the original tubing could simply be reused. The most challenging part of the installation was just making sure water didn't leak all over the place during the removal of the old filter. This filter is also a little larger in size, so be sure you have room to install it. I have not had the filter long enough to comment on whether or not it will truly last up to 5 years. But the amount of use and quality of water makes a clear difference.

I installed this filter about 3 years ago going into our new refrigerator. Water still tastes great and is perfectly clear. I have yet to replace the original internal filter on the refrig. Maybe next year I will replace both this filter and the internal refrig filter.

An excellent water filter, with a high quality carbon core, NSF certified, that's rated for five years use. It's designed for the reduction of sediment as well as chlorine taste and odor for refrigerators and ice-makers to improve the taste of water and ice cubes. This unit will fit all brands with a 1/4 inch line, but an adapter/reducer to 1/4 inch input could be needed for some brands if they have a larger input line on the refrigerator than an 1/4 inch. It's very easy to install, with the push-to-connect fittings on each end you can simply push the plastic line in full and you are done and with the release you can remove it for very easy replacement. You can also use the supplied 1/4 in. compression fitting copper water lines that you wrench down and the compression fitting supplied, pushes in the same way as the plastic line. Now there's no more cutting off the old fittings, installing new ones on the plastic line, as they can simply be pushed in and released just as easy, than pushed into a replacement....... And the water taste good too....

My filter is under the sink where the line to refrigerator water line starts so is easier to get to filter, just turn off water supply take out existing filter and screw in the new one then turn on to make sure no leaks. This is much larger than the filters I have been using and made to last 5 years, sure glad about that as saves me money over changing filter every year. On installation just make sure you get in water in and water out on the right way and you will be good and can forget about a new one for (can believe it) 5 years. Sounds great to me

Very easy to install, install between the water supply to the fridge, it didn't take me long to do it, I think it took me longer to get stuff out of my cabinet uber the sink, the ice cubes usually taste horrible, with this filter, there is no more horrible taste. And it doesn't take a lot of space, the instructions are ready to follow, it lasts up to 5 years. Wonderful.

I do not know how long it will last. Easy to use, placed between wall and refrigerator to make internal filter last longer.

I was having a problem with little, white, floating particles in my ice water. After much research it seemed questionable if anything other than a water softener would fix the issue. The expense and maintenance involved was out of the question. Looking at the price, reviews, and service life, I decided to roll the dice on this filter and hooked it up to my icemaker. No more UFOs in my water.

Pros: -Easy to install -Fits and works perfect with my refrigerator. -I look forward to drinking water from my refrigerator, than drinking from bottled water. -The water tastes great, I bring water to work, let it sit in the office; room temperature and there is no sediment or residue floating to the top of the water. There is no clouds formulating and it still taste great. -I don't think that I would have picked a better refrigerator filter. The last filter that I had was very disappointing to me. The HDX changed my attitude in its performance. I love my water and I love my ice more than ever, from my home, from my refrigerator. Cons: Nothing negative to report.

Ice taste great. Super easy to install. We'll see if it last the 5 years. So far so good.

Nicely made, quick release connectors, conflicting instructions

I am currently using this as an extra water filter for my ice maker. The ice tastes great. No problems so far and we have hard water. The only reason I am rating the quality as average is because I had to take the first unit back because the threads on one end of the first unit I purchased were not machined properly. My local store swapped it out, no questions asked. So, other than that one little issue, things have been great and it is supposed to last up to 5 years. For a low cost filter, and length of life, you can't beat it.

This is indeed a long life filter. It lasts so long, you'll forget the last time you replaced it. Better mark a date on it just to be sure, so you can change it at reasonable intervals.

Easier than getting a filter built in refrig. This one goes in the line to ice maker. Works great and lasts couple years.

I had to install this filter because the expensive in the frig filter does not filter out anything. This one does a great job, finally have clean water.
