It is taking some getting used to. The lowest oven setting is 190, so we can no longer dry fruit in the oven. The glass top is already getting some spotting on it, and we clean it after every use.

Love the range
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a very good range with many features that were a pleasant surprise. The wide viewing angle of the front glass is very nice and my wife is ready to use the convection oven. It also comes with an assortment of racks and water tray accessory. We followed the instructions on the vent piping and the fan suction is excellent. It is very strong on high speed, low speed is adequate for most cooking. Like others, we had little choice on the replacement of our downdraft JennAir.The install can be challenging, dependent on what you are replacing I suppose. It is about what I was expecting though due to the type of range and the feature of the downdraft so I was not surprised. If I was replacing a KitchenAid, it may have been easier. The downdraft piping can be installed low on the rear wall or in the floor near the back wall. You'll need about 4.5" from either side of a 30"w opening for sliding the new range in over the blower and the pipe whether in the floor or wall. My old range blower and pipe were to the right side but further towards the front and so we had to move the hole and pipe to the rear. I researched for details before purchase but was unable to find anything. Attached is a photo of the floor template. Notice the specifics on blower mounting and downdraft hole location. If done per this template, the new range will just slide right in at the end. You'll also need to make note of your electrical plug location. I had to relocate ours. Initially, the range stuck out about 4.5 inches. This was mostly the control panel but my wife wanted it further in so I cut 2" from the granite countertop. There was enough overhang in the rear (about 3") that I did not need to modify the inside of cabinet. Note that the trim kit does not exend befond the front control panel. This is something we elected to live with and is acceptable if you have a good cut in your countertop. We built a framework from PVC and covered in 2 mil plastic to keep the dust down. Also had a shopvac (with dustbag) running while cutting to suck up the dust. We covered the inside cabinets with plastic as well and put plenty of towels on the floor to absorb water. Used a spray bottle to keep water in the path while cutting. Before cutting, I turned off the breaker and verified power was off. It was a lengthy project but worth it. Take your time, measure twice and you should be ok if you are handy. I would not trust this install with just anyone though. We did notice a few stains (from cooked on food/grease) in the glass top the first week of cooking and we could not get them out. We were disappointed but ordered the cleaning kit specified in the owners manual. The stains came out no problem so we are very pleased. There was a strong smell from the oven the first few times we used it. It faded and then went away after about 1.5 weeks.

    Horrible product
I bought the kitchenaid downdraft electric oven to replace a Jenn Air that I had. It was a very expensive range and I am very disappointed in the product! The Aqua Lift technology for self cleaning is worthless, it doesn't remove anything. I had a fairly inexpensive range in my last home and it's self cleaning feature worked much better. The Kitchenaid scratches very, very easily and is not durable enough for cooking with high quality cookware and normal use! Tonight I noticed something had spilled over at some point and ran down to the oven door, when I wiped it off the clear coat on the stainless door peeled off!! This range is very, very poor quality for the big price tag it carries!!! I will NEVER invest in a Kitchenaid product again!!

What I wish I had known before buying!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have now had this about a month, and there are some problems. The markings to show which burner is which have come off. The timer only beeps once. The oven temperature does not seem to be hot enough. The touch buttons on top turn on too easily. I have read that the steam cleaning of the oven is not effective. This is major if it is true.

          Easy installation and improved design!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a replacement for my Jenn-Air downdraft. I was able to install this range myself, unlike my last one; the instructions were easy to follow. I consider the top of this range significantly improved over the Jenn-Air, as the sides of this KitchenAid range are raised, not allowing drippage down the sides.

            Not overly impressed
With the touch screen control panel , when you lean over to stir pots on the back burners or if you're cleaning your body will reset the oven and clock every time. This range scratches VERY easily. I can't sit any pans out of the oven on the stove top as it will scratch. I have had to have a heating element replaced. This stove which is very pricey came with one of the eyes not functioning. I do love how the oven cooks so even and quickly.

Replace a Jenn-Air stove with this model. The model is slick looking, appears to have high quality construction. Stove top heats up incredibly quickly, as advertised. BE AWARE - the delivery folks at Home Depot cannot install this or just swap out your old downdraft oven with this one. There will be electrical connections to sort out and HVAC connections that will may match perfectly. I was able to do a self-install but it took a couple days to make it all work. Had to take the old blower out and install the new one, which came with the stove. Once we did, it is working perfectly.

            Waited a long time!
Our only option was a downdraft stove. So glad to be able to purchase one finally. Love the glass top stove feature. Oven take a little extra time to preheat...I just have to make a time adjustment.

            KitchenAid Downdraft Fits The Bill
Our situation called for an electric downdraft range, and the KitchenAid range came through beautifully. It's beautiful, and we also love the functionality. It's loaded with features we've never had before. I might have to try some new dishes. The downdraft is amazing. It truly vents the smoke and odor and down and out. The amount of air it moves it amazing. Installation was easy and straight forward. Great product. Only negative I can mention is that there is a chemical smell when the oven is heating up. Maybe it's the "newness" breaking in; not sure yet.

            Love, Love, Love
I love my new 30", 4 Element Electric Downdraft Range by KitchenAid. I previously had a 28 year old downdraft JennAir stove and we were looking for another downdraft range to replace it. I was pleased to find out that all the downdraft fan and everything was under the stove and not along the side which allows for a beautiful large over with 3 racks. The stove top in so convenient and all the dials, clock, timer etc. is so simple to work - no guessing. I just love my new Range.

Beware. The Home Depot crew wan not prepared to do anything other than connect the right power cable and bring it into the house. I visited our local store (this was an online purchase) to find out what i need to do or purchase to make this happen without any hiccups. The gentleman there assured me all i needed was a new power cord. I bought it and was ready when they arrived. I even took the old stove out of the spot in the kitchen so the new stove could be placed easily. My stove is a downdraft model and there are a lot of things to istall to get it working. It's not a drop in place situation. The store was no help at all. the online service was nearly non existent. I worked as a field engineer all my life so i ended up doing the installation myself. I'm not a spring chicken anymore so it was a painful experience. I'm very sorry I purchased from Home Depot and in the future will look elsewhere to a provider who knows what they're talking about and has professional installation. The stove works as advertised, although the documentation is all over the place and I had to print out 3 different users manuals to get everything I needed.

              Gorgeous range.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This range is quite elegant and beautiful, and works very well. My only complaint is the inexplicable placement of the control panel on the top of the cooktop instead of on the front, facing the cook. Being on the top means that when wiping it down, you constantly and inadvertently cause the oven or downdraft to turn on. It's ridiculous! And any pot you may rest on the control panel may leave scratches! Also, the clock cannot be seen from a distance, you must walk up to the control panel to see the time. What is the point of this inconvenient placement? It's a shame, because otherwise I've really enjoyed using this range.

                Replacement range
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is a nice product but be prepared to spend some time on the installation. We had a down draft Jenna's that we replaced and existing ventilation did not match up very well. This range is fast and has some great features.

Nice stove -- time limit to install is too short.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good -- the stove is working great -- I like the way the burner heats up and then goes down again and then heats up again -- even heat I'm thinking. What I didn't like was that we only had 48 hours to get the stove installed -- this would have been OK had this stove been a regular stove that you just plugged in and it worked -- however -- this is a downdraft -- we live in an older house so had to change the downdraft and then had to get an electrician to move the wire. In this day and age -- electricians are scheduled out for 2 to 3 weeks -- the 48 hours WOULD NOT have worked. Luckily...we had a friend who is an electrician so we were able to get it installed and working during the 48 hour time limit. So my suggestion would be to arrange the installation hours and guidelines based on the type of stove it is and how long it will take it to get it installed.

                    Absolutely no instructions
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolute buyers remorse. I wish I had my old Jennaire back. The downdraft is much weaker and allows steam in the kitchen. The oven takes significantly longer to cook. And finally I don’t like the glass cook top.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had my range about a month and am still learning to use some of the features. So far, I am enjoying using the convection feature and like that I can turn the heat on one stove eye to ultra low for some uses.

                          Flawed design!
I replaced my Jenn-Air range 8 months ago with this range, which was the only option available with the centre downdraft design. I was excited to have a new appliance, and really wanted to like it. Almost immediately, I discovered the many flaws with the design of this range. Whenever I wipe down the cooktop, the top control panel ‘yells’ at me, as it is inevitable that I touch the controls while cleaning. Also, the warning light indicating a hot element is on the front of the panel. This range is designed to be inserted into an island, so anyone sitting at the island cannot see the warning light, and would not know if an element was still hot. Stupid design!!!

                              poor first impression
We are very disappointed. Because of the position of the controls, it is a stretch for me to reach the back burners to stir, certainly not ergonomic I have to lock the controls or they will go all wonky when I reach the back burner. Our old stove had a "glass" cooktop yet was nowhere near as high maintenance. This one shows any dust mote. Any minor spillage (drop of soup) creates a big cleanup. There is no overlap piece to close the gap between the stove and the countertop.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are actually pleased with the range, we are beginning to be able to use more of the functions after three weeks, would have been much easier if the thing came with a manual! We were able to find a set of instructions for the oven that were for a different model but there wasn't anything we could find for our model. It's hard to believe that the folks who make the stand mixer are part of this unit. Also the glass top could be more suited to a cooktop's function. Our previous unit was a JennAir and had a Shott Glass top and never scratched and was much easier to clean. For the price of this unit I would think the better glass top would be part of the deal

Good looking range, does a decent job.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this range to replace a Jennair downdraft range. Overall, I am pleased with the operation of the range. When it arrived, the broil option was not working. That was taken care of under warranty. The exhaust fan seems more powerful than the old range. Due to the design of the glass cooking surface, large pots and pans can be a little crowded. The effect of the bright oven lights and the large glass on the door front is dramatic. I don't like the Aqualift Self Clean feature. It is recommended that the oven be cleaned as soon as it is soiled during operation. This involves scrubbing all of the oven surfaces without any chemicals. It is difficult to reach everywhere while craning over the oven door with the addition of the oven lights shining brightly in the eyes. A continuous clean surface would be a better solution.
