At the first sign of moles, we immediately headed to HD for Lawn Insect Killer. If you rid the yard of the food source (grubs), we get rid of the moles. This product was easy to apply with a spreader, listed all the insect and bugs we needed to get rid of and offers 6 months control. My number one when reading the label, it is safe for people and pets after being watered. We put the dog up and watered the yard. It rained the next few days. As you can see in the pictures, our yard is very green and mole free. This is the first time using the brand, we are very pleased with the results.

All you need to know about Ortho B-gon Insect Granules from HomeDepot
I hope this review will help you. Most answers as to how and when to use Ortho B-gon Insect Granules and what it can control can be answered by carefully reading the bag. By law the bag label must contain on how, when to use and what it will control. The bag front has some info [see photo 1]. But the back has the most detailed and useable info .[see pic 2] Just what bugs it kills, how to apply, how much to use for each application, what to use to apply and when it is safe around kids and pets, also how to use for vegetables, fruits, flowering plants and lawns, [see photo 3] and much more. This info is in English and Spanish [see pic 4] . Thus, when you need detailed info on this or any like product from HomeDepot and Ortho just look on the product package for what you need to know. Product when opened was gray and not brown.
I am not sure sbout the effective of the product, three of the ten bags bought whrn opened was gray. I contacted the manufacturer after using the first bag and the second was brown as I expected. They couldn't tell me if product was still good. manufacturer asked for pictures and offered to reimburse me but required I opened all the bags to eliminate the good from the bad. I had to open bags that I didn't plan on using at the moment so I have three opened unused bags

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho Bug B-Gon Lawn Insect Killer and appreciate your feedback.

This product has a minimum shelf life of 3 years when properly stored, but will often last longer. When storing, close bag tightly and seal with strong tape. Store out of direct sunlight and moisture. We recommend storing most products off the floor such as up on a shelf to help prevent absorbing moisture through the tiny vent holes. Freezing temperatures will not damage granular products or packaging.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 877-220-3089 if we can further assist. ortho

My yard is an insect haven
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently spreaded some tall fescue around my yard due to the abundance of shade and water. I walked through so many spider webs and received so many flea and mosquito bites. I have professional pest control but it rains so much here in North Georgia that whatever it is they are spraying is not effective. I spreaded this all over my yard mostly on the muddy areas and leaves as I read it would also make the standing water bad for the bugs. So far the fleas have been reduced and even though its not noted I hope it can reduce the mosquito larvae in the water. In the future I will definitely do my own pest control since I Can control the concentration but will keep the termite service since they are so prevalent here in Georgia.

Bug killer for your lawn and home
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This summer I had a lot of ants crawling around my home. I used this product to treat my lawn and around the foundation of the home. You want to pay attention to the information on the package so you know what insects it's able to kill and for how long. The 6 month control is mainly for ants. Most other critters have 3 months control. For the lawn I used a Scotts spreader to apply the product. Set the spreader to the proper setting and apply it like any other granule products for your lawn. For the foundation around the home, I used a Scotts handheld spreader. The handheld spreader allow me to get into tighter spaces. You should water the treated area for best result. After couple of days, I am not seeing ants like I was seeing before. So far it seems to be working. One bag can treat quite a large area so you can either spot treat several areas like I did or apply it to the entire lawn.

      Kills bug
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bug-b-gon is really easy to apply. There is not a strong smell like some granular products. It stays in place on the ground. I saw that bugs were completely eliminated. I have not seen any bugs inside of the house too. I want to keep bugs from inside and outside the premises.

        Works great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ortho Bug B-gon lawn insect killer was very easy to use, and it spreads out evenly . It started working almost right away, I had a serious problem with ants in my yard and I tried numerous products and they don't even compare to this one. I'm so happy that I don't have to worry about my 6 year old getting bit by ants anymore.

          Great product
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ortho bug b- hon lawn insect killer is such a great product. Evenly apply the insect killer across your area. Apply to your lawn area in spring or summer. Do not spread in the rain. Spread during a nice day. It will control the area you spread it on for three to six months time. All you have to do if you see insects is just repeat the application. Great product. I would highly recommend!

Read the label! I m a big fan of Ortho products. I have a half acre property with lots of trees, shrubs, garden space, lawn, and four structures. Keeping pests under control is a constant battle. I use a lot of spray concentrate but the lawn and some areas are better treated with the granules. I have used the red bag for years on these areas and it is rated for three months. To be honest I have rarely treated more than once a year but I am hoping this 6 month product will prove even more effective. My rating is based on my use of the red bag. I am waiting for it to warm up a little before I apply this new product. We just had snow yesterday.

I have been using Orth Bug B-Gon for several years. It works. I live in central Texas and we have lots of creepy crawlers. A schedule is needed for this to work correctly. For me, the schedule is every four months I spread a bag over 3/4 acre. I use a common spreader with wheels - see video. We have lots of St. Augustine grass and many flower beds. I run up in the flower beds also. I think this has a secondary effect of getting rid of the fire ants also as their food source is messed up. I have no problem with loss of bees, butterflies or lady bugs. My vegetable garden and flowers do fine. Good product.

I have used Ortho products for most of my life. I grew up with parents that worked in an Agway (Lawn & Garden) store, and worked there myself in high school. Ortho has long been a quality name in lawn and garden chemicals. The Ortho Bug B Gon Lawn Insect Granules live up to that quality. As with any chemical, read your instructions first. Safety is the most important thing for your family. I use them in the yard in the Spring, after the ground has dried from the snow melt. I place a barrier around the house, and do the back yard, then wait a couple days and do the front yard. With kids and pets, I like to split up the application, so they can play and walk the dog in the usable area, while the other area dries from the application. We live in the northeast and I appreciate the protection it gives our yard from ticks especially. One other thing I like on the bag, is that they list Scotts and a couple of other popular spreader settings for you, so you don't have to go looking for that information.

ust took a small cup and sprinkled it on a few mounds. I wasn't sure if it was easier to disturb the mounds or leave them as is before putting the granules on the mound. I ended up stepping on the mound to get the ants active. I sprinkled the granules then walked away. I came back the next day and there was no sign of movement, meaning it worked well on those mounds. It has been a couple of weeks and those mounds have not come back. New mounds not near the treated mounds have popped up, so I would suggest using a broadcast spreader to treat a larger area to keep the ants from coming back/creating new mounds.

I received the product that I thought would help me and my dogs enjoy the backyard during the warmer season. I know I have ticks , fleas, grubs and slugs in my yard. So when I got it I spread it around and then picked up couple of plants boxes to wash for new plants, then I noticed the infestation. There were so many grubs, ants and slugs on the bottom of the boxes. I spread the granules and waited. After 30 minutes they were still alive and then the next day still no result.

This ten pound bag of insect granules are ideal for using around the foundation of my house. I liberally put it from the foundation about 4 or more inches. To me, that insures good coverage tor those pesky insects, that somehow seem to find a way into your home. It also last for a while and reapplying prior to the the original treatment has expired ensures continuous protection.

This product is very easy to spread and works well on anything that crawls! I had hundreds of baby crickets this year, which leads to scorpions if left alone, but one treatment and they seem to be gone. I had enough killer for the entire yard and perimeter of the house. It had no odor but the crickets came out when I spread it. Ortho is always reliable for lawn care.

This product is administered in early spring or summer, or when infestation of bugs is present. It is applied in garden areas, around the foundation and on lawns. The granules are placed in a lawn spreader, and then the area(s) must be watered. Once everything is dry, the application takes affect and is safe for pets, too. One application can last a minimum of three months. Fleas, ticks, ants and so many other insects don't know what hit them!

Last year was not a great year for bugs in my neighborhood with different bouts of stink bugs, lady bugs, and the normal ants. This year I am hoping to be more proactive and stop the invasion before it starts. I have had good luck with Ortho/Scott's products for stopping ants in the house and around openings so I wanted to give their yard products a try. This bag seems like it will be a good value and I am hoping for quality results. Typically I wouldn't start my bug coverage so early, but the product states that it should last 3-6 months when spread at .6-1.2 lbs per 1000 sqft. I spread at just under 1.2 lbs in my yard and easily have enough left over for 2 more applications. I decided to start early because my wife has already seen a stink bug this year and the reports that this could be a rough year for them as well as other pests. With a bag this size giving me two more applications I can cover again in June and September to have more than enough coverage for the whole season. On my scotts edge guard broadcast spreader the bag said to use 2-1/2 (.6 lbs) to 3-1/4 (1.2 lbs) for 3-6 month coverage of most bugs. I set my spreader to 3 which I figured should be right around 1 lbs. This seemed to be the case as it took about 4 pounds to do my yard which after counting out the patio, driveway, sidewalks and other hard surfaces comes out to about 4000 square feet of lawn, give or take.

Ortho brand insect granules is my GO TO bug control for the all seasons. I use this mainly to control the ants in my yard. It is easy to use whether you use a drop spreader or a hand spreader. The 10 Lbs bag is enough to cover my front, side and back yard with enough to cover again in a few months. I also use this in the flower beds with a hand spreader. I would recommend this product especially to control ants.

I was looking for a product that would be effective not only on grubs but all the other creepy-crawlies hiding in the lawn. In addition, I was weary of a product that was any more toxic to pets, etc. than it needed to be.This seems to check both those boxes. The bag covers 33,000 square feet, so it will last me well through the summer and into next spring. Hard to measure results but looking forward to a bug-free summer in my backyard!

I have used this product in times past wjth great success. I waited until now to spread this on about 14-15000 square feet of my front yard. However, i may need to apply again because temps here are hovering around 30's at night and high 50's during the day. I also waited for a soaking rain before spreading. I have not seen any bugs since I applied it to the yard so the "jury" may still be out on the total affect it has on the bug population! I feel confident that it will do the job.

This product is an excellent insect removal and repellant. I have used it every year for several years and I found it very effective against several types of insects. It is applied by using a portable handheld spreader or a garden rolling spreader. It is best to use a mask and avoid windy days when applying this product to prevent inhaling the dust when applying it. Precaution must be observed when there are presence of pets and children in your households. Irrigate the lawn for several days to dissolve the granules and allow to dry before pets and children are allowed to enter the area. It is important to read the instructions at the back of this product before application.

I don’t hire a lawn care service so I need products that work. One that I use several times a year is Ortho Bug B Gon. It helps protect my lawn and cut down on the number insects around my home. When applied correctly it does a good job on chinch bugs, ants, pillbugs, crickets, and grasshoppers. I’m sure it is killing other insects to but those are the ones I really notice disappear. Make sure to water after applying. I usually make the kids stay off the lawn for at least a few days after applying to give the granules a chance to breakdown and absorb.

I have three problems with my lawn. First I have ants in the lawn. Second, I have pets that get fleas from the lawn. Third, I have moles in the lawn that are tearing it up. This product solves all three problems. It kills the fleas and ants, and, NO it doesn't kill the moles, but it does kill the insects that the mole is feeding on. If I eliminate the moles food source the mole will hopefully go somewhere else. The Bug B Gon is easy to apply. It goes on the lawn just like fertilizer. I just use a hand held sprayer to spread it out (see picture). It doesn't have an smell once it is watered into the lawn so it won't cause any delays in using the lawn, and it will not harm the lawn. It has the active ingredient Bifenthrin in a .02% concentration. The bag says it will last 6 months and a bag can cover up to 16,500 sq. feet. Of course this will depend on how heavy a application you put on.

The Ortho Bug B Gon is a very useful tool in eliminating pests around your lawn. I really like using it on fire ant beds. Simply locate the fire ant beds in your yard. Usually I'll take a stick or something to stir the ants up. Once the ants show themselves, I'll sprinkle the Ortho Bug B Gon all across the top of the fire ant bed. And another handy trick I've realized with using the bug killer. After placing it on whatever you are wanting to eliminate, sprinkle water over the granules to instantly activate it. It immediately kills whatever you are wanting to eliminate. The only thing I can say that I wish the product had, was a resealable flap on it. But thats not a deal breaker for me at all I can honestly say. it has been a very effective product so far, and would highly recommend the product.

This Ortho product is the perfect size for treating my yard once, without having to worry about storing leftover insecticide. It cost 1/10th what my Pest Control Service charges, and lasts 6 months! It is easily applied using a broadcast fertilizer spreader. My only concern is whether it will harm beneficial earthworms and the robins that feed on them in my yard. My understanding is that it will not.

I just put this out at the very end of Feb as spring arrives in Zone 7B. It looks like any other granule type product, but its pretty light weight “fluffs” of granules, so it was very easy to spread with a hand spreader. I didn’t have any dust at the bottom of the spreader either - it was really easy to apply this evenly. The label says to water in so I just waited until a day that had rain forecast, and made my life simple :) I have had great success in past years with other Ortho products, so am hoping that putting this out early will make my yard easier to enjoy this summer with less follow up treatment needed. I have lost my yard to army worms in the past, so have learned the importance of proactive treatment the hard way. I’m also perpetually treating individual fire ant mounds, so I was excited to see this bag of Bug B Gon Lawn Insect Granules offers a pre-treatment for both these needs, as well as fleas and grubs, two other bugs I have treated for separately in the past. The label states the treatment will work against a variety of bugs for 3-6 months depending on the critter (it’s all broken out really clearly on the bag, see attached pictures).

Ortho never disappoints. I use this every spring and it is just as effective as professional. I use the entire line of ortho all around the house/yard and rarely see any bugs. This 10lb bag is an easy size to carry. I generally put it in a hand spreader and walk the yard. Then I turn on the sprinkler system for about 5 minutes just to lightly water it is, but make sure not to flood it out. Good product to rid yard of most bugs.

Having St. Augustine grass I have learned to be pro-active instead of reactive. By the time you recognize a problems, you are not only playing catch up but it can be more expensive to solve problem that could have been prevented. I have approx. 5000 sq. feet of area to be treated. Which if applied correctly could provide six treatments. I have mostly used liquid type control, however in the summer, with the rainy season, I am concerned with too much dilution. Ortho has a very good reputation, so we will see. A 6-month control time frame is impressive. No, it won't kill everything. It does kill ants except for pharoah, carpenter, and harvester ants. Not mosquitos either. Warning, besides this being a poison, it may contain peanut by-products. Application rates on the bag are geared towards using a Scotts-type spreader, if you don't have one you will have to do some math. See pic. number 5, that is 3 lbs., this is lighter than typical fertilizer, wind is not your friend. Wear a mask and gloves. Also, mow your grass first. I don't normally bag my grass but this time I did, then applied the Ortho Bug B-gon, then ran the sprinkler on a normal cycle. Be sure to not water to the point of runoff. This is my pre-emptive strike to prevent future infestation. Read the back of the bag it has a lot of good information. Do yourself a favor, get ahead to stay ahead.

ORTHO 10 LBS. BUG B GON LAWN INSECT GRANULES - I am an Ortho user for some time. This product is for six months of control so reapplication during the spring, summer, fall growing season should not be necessary. It is a convenient size and should be a sufficient quantity for smaller lawns. I like the quality of the packaging (a sturdy plastic bag) over other manufacturers paper bags. I don't have to worry about cleaning out the leftover "dust/chemicals" in my car after bringing the product home. Application is easy with a drop or hand spreader. However, I won't be able to truly evaluate its effectiveness until fall. If it's anywhere as good as their other products I am sure I will be satisfied.

This product always performs well. I live in a rural area and the pests seem to hone in on my space quite often. I purchased this product last year and applied it exactly as it said and wasn’t bothered by the fleas and ticks. I have four dogs and they were happy with this product too. I am looking forward to using it again once the weather decides to stop snowing.
