New Patio Door Security Bar

What genius thought that screws this small would properly grip through the mount and door? Pencil end for size.

very lightweight, could be bent easily. needs two improvements 1) drill a hole behind the adjustment clip and use a screw to lock in the bar length 2) needs a better bar retention clip as these folks obviously never tested thei product. See photo.

Great Idea but in reality this bar, if you want to call it a bar is a complete waste of energy. It will not lock in position and hold. A child could open the door with this in place. the latch that is supposed to hold the bar against the door is worthless it is the wrong size for the bar. Now the good.. Not much. I like the way the bar swings up and latches out of the way so you can't lose it. It is all metal and that is good. It mounts at any height but mid door is preferred. It is easy to use. Do not despair because this bar can be modified to work like it should. With door closed and the bar in position just take a 1/8 in drill bit and drill down through the bar approximately 2 inches from the release tab. You can then get a small nail or machine screw to go into the hole and protrude below slightly. There ya go these are cheap and if modified correctly work as good as the expensive ones.

Easy to install (took me longer to get it out of the plastic packaging :) ). Make sure that when you drill the pilot holes that you do not drill to deep, because you do not want to break the glass. The product is made of metal which makes it very stable and looks great!

We enjoy this bar because it eliminates the broomstick handle we were using instead. It’s at a higher place on the door, which also eliminates bending over, especially when your back is sore from too much Pokemon Go over the weekend. It’s sturdy, which means it’s great at keeping intruders or the occasional in-law from getting in. Also, it was easy installation, so whether your expertise is in kitchen renovation or kicking back and playing pinball, you’ll be able to successfully get this bar up and working.

it was quick and easy to install and seems very secure.

dose what is supposed to do! but do what I do when you open the bar ,press lock and shorten it so if it fall when you close the door behind you it wont lock you out!!!! I found it will stay put if you don't retract the arm all the way in because then it interferes with the self holding pin. Also the plastic lock that is supposed to hold the arm from being raised from out side dose not fit the metal receiver bracket that well and the clips are to short to hold the bar in place. I found out when my cat jumped up at the door and hit the bar and dislodged it from the bracket. I use a rubber band to hold it in place now, worked just fine. that is why only 4 stars. It is still a good secondary lock!

I installed a total of 3 of these on new sliding windows. I aligned them along a lower window grid rail to keep it discreet and still be able to lock the bars in the vertical position when opening the windows. 1 of the 3 had a loose locking mechanism. For peace of mind, I drilled through one side of the 2 bars and installed a small screw to keep the bars at a fixed length. The product is a worthwhile investment to help make it harder for the bad guys to break in.

This is by far the best security bar I've come across for your patio door. Very easy to install and works like intended. The one I purchased also comes with a piece of metal that's attached above the sliding door to prevent the door from being lifted up and out of the track from the outside. Feel secure and get one now - great price.

Had security bar before. Removed when installed security gate on sliding door. False alarm triggered several times in the middle of night. Door was closed and locked. Somehow connection broken with alarm. Purchased and reinstalled. Confident that door is closed and secure.

I don’t understand you need two screws to install the bar, three screws to in stall the other end to hold the bar up, and two screws to hold the bar up when the bar is not being used. I installed them on two sliding doors both packages were two screws short.

Poor quality materials overall, and to top it off, the locking mechanism for the telescoping extension doesn't hold - You can just push the door open with a little extra force

Bar does not stay latched extended

Put this on my sliding patio door and can still open the door. Worthless.
