Q:Is it super loud like a smoke detector? And is it too sensitive to use in my tent with the Mr. Heater Buddy propane heater?
by|Dec 27, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello. It is super loud, at 85 decibels at 10 feet. And it is not designed for use in a tent. It is a residential alarm and has to be exposed constantly to carbon monoxide for minutes to hours for the alarm to go off, per UL standards for CO alarms. The higher the amount of carbon monoxide, the faster it goes off but if the area is completely aired out and fills again with carbon monoxide, this could delay or keep the alarm from going off. We don't have a carbon monoxide alarm for camping or outdoor conditions.

Q:can a carbon monoxide detector be used in a car
    by|Nov 19, 2022
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  No. These units are not instant reading alarms. They are rated for residential use take an average of readings over a minute or more. They have to read at or above certain amounts of carbon monoxide for minutes to hours, depending on how much carbon monoxide is present, for the alarm to go off. A car will air out too quickly and the alarm won't be present long enough for lower amount of carbon monoxide. At 70 parts per million of carbon monoxide (PPM), the alarm has to be constantly exposed for 1 to 4 hours. At 150 parts oer million of carbon monoxide, the alarm has to be constantly exposed for 10 to 50 minutes for the alarm to go off. At 400 parts per million (PPM) of carbon monoxide or higher, the alarm has to be constantly exposed for at least 4 to 15 minutes to go off. You would need a CO alarm made for use in a car.

A:  Hello. No, this is just a carbon monoxide alarm. You would need an explosive gas and carbon monoxide alarm KN-COEG-3 model 21029623.

Insert the included batteries and you are good to go. Nothing fancy, just a plain carbon monoxide alarm. Very good value for the price.
