Works ok, but sheet grip worn away
Works ok, but I'm around 3 months into using it and the clamps that hold the sandpaper in place have worn down and don't hold the sheet anymore, so I can't use it and I had to get a new one already. Bought a dewalt with metal clamps so hopefully that will be better. I did appreciate that the connector for sawdust was compatible with my shop vac so I could connect it to that.

won’t hold paper
Like other reviewers, my palm sander won’t hold the sandpaper on front or back. Ridgid needs to replace the plastic clip with something that won’t wear out. Buy a different brand.

Returned it
I love Rigid products but not this one. The spring clip that holds the paper is just too weak. Paper kept tearing. If you only want to use only rubber backed paper maybe it will be OK. Not sure. Built in hose capability is nice. I switched to a Dewalt with two spring levers and it works fine regardless of paper type.

You can either use the dust bag or you can attach the sander to a 1-1/4 in. or 2-1/4 in. diameter vacuum hose. Poorest sander ever
It struggled to hold paper shortly after using first time. Arm on on side that held paper jumps out of fixed position! Tried to bend to create more pressure, didn't work. Tried to put girth on roller that held paper to keep paper in place, didn't work. The side arm just finally broke.

Junk….
Ive been using this sander for a few months on and off. Keeping paper locked into the spring loaded latch is a joke. You load the paper and watch it walk out as you release the lock. The paper is then held on by a sliver of paper. If you apply no pressure to the sander it might be ok for a little while. But in a short time thenpaper will walk right out. This sander will be going in the trash. And ive had these problems with 220 grit paper

Should Consider this Sander
Really happy with the way the sander performs and how quickly you're able to realize your desired surface - the ease and efficiency of switching paper - the paper attachment mechanism and how well it holds the paper during the sanding process. in my years of doing projects around the house, the best I've ever owned.

bad bearings
This is the second one I’ve had now and haven’t had it for more than six months in the bearing goes out I use it for sanding wood I use with the vacuum hook up sanding drywall all that and I don’t use it every day

Works Great, Saves So Much Elbow Grease!
I have had this for almost 2 months and I couldn't be happier with it. It works amazing, saves my hands and wrists from more wear and tear. I don't understand all the negative reviews. The paper holds fine for me. Maybe they've updated the design? I wish I had bought one of these 20 years ago, would have saved me many nights of sore hands & wrists.
I highly recommend this to anyone who needs to do more than a little sanding.

Forgets how to hold sandpaper
Initially it was a great sander. After a number of months of use the from clamp stopped securing the sandpaper. To correct this problem I've started using two sheets of paper at a time which has been working, so far.

Gets all the jobs done!
We have uses this to sand all kinds of wood projects around the house, and it is always up for the job! It is great to be able to by a value pack of regular size sand paper and with 2 folds and 2 cuts get 4 sheets that fit this perfectly. The clips have always held the paper tightly! The dust catcher works great if you use the provided hole puncher. The paper will tear if you use it over wood with nails in it or with extremely rough/jagged wood, but this is true for any sander.
