Rigid are 2740 belt sander
Rigid are 2740 belt sander bought this belt sander from Home Depot had it a couple of years now used it a few times and all of a sudden one day it quit working brushes are good switches are good it just stopped why do I wanna spend that kind of money on a piece of equipment when it just doesn’t work I will not be buying another rigid tool there is no way to fix it

Failed After 1 Hour of Use
Shopping for a Belt Sander and this one caught my eye for the lifetime service agreement. This sander could have been the last one I would ever have to purchase. The cost was about twice that of sanders with similar power rating. This sander failed after about 1 hour of use. It sounded like a bearing failed, motor still worked but no belt movement. I do not review often and really hate to write a negative one. This sander had to be the one in 10,000 made that made it through all the QC checks. Whatever the reason this was my experience.

Broke right away.
Bought this sander for a renovation project. It broke within the first 10 minutes. It has now been sitting at a warranty repair shop for over three months. No sign of when the defective parts will be available. I have lost all confidence in Rigid tools! The renovation project has been on hold now for this length of time

It has been a few years since using a belt sander and I was a bit concerned with the quality of a $100 belt sander... Well, I am happy to report this sander worked perfectly right out of the box. No issues with the belt, it stayed in place, and replacement was a breeze. I am very happy with the purchase. The dust collector worked pretty darn good too... Not as good as having a vacuum hose attached, but I am not complaining in the least. Very happy with the purchase and made my project go smoothly. Hopefully will be using it soon. It is a keeper and great for a homeowner that does not need to use on a daily basis. But I am sure it would hold up well for frequent use if the operator does not abuse it.

Love this. Unlike the other belt sanders I have used in the past, this one feels truly heavy duty and like it will last. I use it mostly for sanding hardwoods and it's been great. The vacuum bad is pretty impressive for already coming with the body.

It sure did NOT meet my expectations. I bought this to sand paint off of my front door to repaint it. Not only did it not do well, it DIED 45 minutes into the job. A CORDED power tool made specifically for sanding died doing a simple sanding job in under an hour. I buy and use Rigid tools. This one disappointed.

right out of the box I liked the way the rubber grips felt, it made it very comfortable to use for long periods of time, as for operating this sander I think the air, exhaust system on this thing could have been thought out better because after 10 - 15 minutes of use on oak slabs I had dust all over my work area and everything, and nothing in the bag, and I had to blow it out really good because it was plugged up. the thing that drew me to this sander was the lifetime warranty, to me that makes it worth it, just make sure that you stop every so often to blow it out, I know for some that might be a bit of an inconvenience, but I still recommend, Just like everything else if you take care of it, it will take care of you.

I burned out two other belt sanders (one Skill and one Black and Decker) but this rigid worked excellent for 8 hours with very little downtime. The auto tracking belt worked pretty good and changing the belt is very simple not to mention the lifetime warranty. So far so good.

Damaged prior to shipping
For the 1st time, I'm disappointed in Home Depot (online). Received my sander in a damaged box which was re-taped prior to shipment. Its clear the unit had been dropped multiple times due to both ends of the box were pushed in or crushed. This is NOT shipping damage, the tape is tight over the top of the damage and not conforming to the actual box damage shape. Returning unit to store, unopened, for exchange. I don't know if it will die 4 month from now due to the drops before I received it. If these are opened box or returns, it should be stated in description. If it's Home Depot's policy to ship damaged box products that would have been difficult to sell in a store (who would actual pick this one from a shelf), it should be stated in the description.
