Hello, Thank you for your review. Generally new rugs emit an odor. A rug that is made from polypropylene (olefin) may have some off gassing. It’s not toxic but if you are of concern (all synthetic material will have some smell) this odor is harmless, but airing out the rug in a well ventilated area generally solves the problem.

Great Rug for any living area!
I purchased this Shag rug and could not be more pleased. We put it in our basement - it adds a unique blue/green color with our green/grey wall paint. Would highly recommend!

I picked this one because it looked similar to what...
I picked this one because it looked similar to what I had. It has a lot more shag then I thought it would. I really love it though and it’s pretty comfy. Only problem is trying to vacuum it, that doesn’t work very well.

Thank you for your review. We recommend using a canister vacuum without beater bars or disengage the beater bars when vacuuming. You can also use the vacuum cleaner attachments. Do not use a rotating brush or turbo brush but instead use a bristle brush when vacuuming.

The pattern does not look as distinct as photos because of how thick it is. Color is good. Very happy overall.
