I have struggled with brown patch for 5 years now. We live near Houston and last two summers have been hotter and more humid than normal. I started applying DiseaseX in early June and set an alarm on my phone to reapply every month. It’s end of November and so far, so good. My whiny neighbor got hit hard and blamed me for the brown patch. I have been delighted to see that what she’s using didn’t work nearly as good as my monthly application.

I applied this twice during September 2 weeks apart. Both times watering it as directed. There is no noticeable change. I must note that the first bag contained a very dark brown granule. The second bag bought two weeks later was more lighter in color (gold?). Not sure why this was. I cannot recommend this product. I will wait until spring and pay a professional company to treat these large areas in my front yard.

I gave only 2 star reviews because I put this product on my backyard, called to make sure I was watering it right, guy says water it right after applying.. I note have mushrooms in some areas of my yard. Thankfully it’s not everywhere! Boy why is it anywhere? Isn’t this supposed to kill fungus and other bad things not create them!

Scotts DiseaseEX certainly did not cure but make worse. My lawn is now a total disaster. My lawn was beautiful and green. One day I saw 1 big yellow spot then I quickly applied DiseaseEX to the entire lawn. It turn out worse than ever. My lawn is now 90% yellow.

I purchased this because I started noticing some browning of my lawn, a landscaper told me it could be fungus. I followed the directions and now I have little circular burnt out patches all over my lawn and white mushrooms growing everywhere.

I always seem to have some problem with Scotts. Their spreaders, their fertilizers - there's never a match to spreader settings. With this Disease-ex, I am having a clumping problem. What should have taken 3 bags in my "back-40" did not take even one. I used a Scotts Elite Spreader set at 2-1/4. It turns out there is a clumping - or liquid problem in the bag. The spreader was completely dry; the bag was freshly purchased from HD, and I'm in Utah, so there's no humidity issue. Very put out!

I bought this product. Got an email from HD to write a review. Did that. Submitted with a photo. Never got posted. Anyway, here's what I wrote: Have used this product for a few years but the last bag I bought contained very hard chunks of product ... not just clumps that you can break apart in your fist but little rock like chunks presumably of product. (See photo). Not good for your lawn but great for clogging your spreader. Really disappointed this time. Hey Scotts - QUALITY CONTROL!

I read mixed reviews on this product. I tried it in my side yard and I never saw any difference. It’s still bad looking a few weeks later and doubt it will work. I’m in South Florida and have St Augustine grass.

I only use scotts ex for my st augustine grass. Started using it in 2021 when i noticed brown spots on my grass blades and bare spots. Googled issue and remedy. Applied it and it did exactly what it claimed. Spots left quickly. Used it once or twice more in that year. Had to use it this year last week 8/2022 because i started watering too late in the evening and the same fungus (brown spots) returned. I was ready for it this time. Caught it early before too much damage occurred. My son commented this week how he noticed my grass looking brown but now its back pretty and green. And within 1 to 2 days. Scotts Ex is the absolute best!!!!

This stuff is worth it's weight in gold. I did apply it a little heavy handed because I waited to long and the disease was spreading like wildfire. I used the entire bag on a 2000 Sq ft lawn.The pictures are 4 days apart.

I was expecting the Fungus to stop spreading but it continued even after the application.

Still waiting for the result after 1 week of application. Patches are still very visible. Is it working on my lawn? Well im not sure but hoping to work it well as advertised. I hope my $19 will not go to waste

I’ve applied as directed but rally have no indication of what to look for as far as results. Do I still have brown patches in the lawn……yes. I wish I knew what to look for.

I was happily surprised by the effectiveness of this product. I think I had red thread on a patch of our lawn. I applied this product in late June 2021 and after about 3 weeks the reddish brown spots had all gone. Check out the before and after photos. I guess it could have been other factors like the weather, and I used about 4x as much product as the packet said, but we're very happy with the way the lawn looks now.

I always got brown spots in my lawn during the summer months. I would always put bug killer down thinking it was grubs and whatever. My neighbor suggested I was fighting lawn disease, so I tried Scott's Disease EX - it worked. I now dethatch and use DiseaseEX. I'm happy, see pic. no inground sprinklers.

Curious why photo online shows it as gray granules but mine was orange brown.

The disease control product work well. It is easy to use to spread on the lawn to treat the brown patch. it worked fast and effective. I was particularly impressed with how fast it worked to get rid of brown patch. I needed to control the patches that were coming up due to the rainy season that we experienced this year. Without having this product, I would have to apply a lot more treatments through my entire lawn and this product helped me to limit the amount of treatments.

Sep/Oct 2020 I had been using "BioAdvanced" granules and spray for a few weeks on my centipede but had not seen significant improvement in the brown spot that was developing. The chemical this product uses is propiconazole. After doing some research, I found info at Clemson's College of Agriculture (https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/brown-patch-large-patch-diseases-of-lawns/) which rated the different chemicals at controlling fungus. Turns out propiconazole was only rated "fair" (which is what I think I was seeing as my result) and the better control was with Azoxystrobin. So I bought the Scotts product which has this. Noticed in a day or two significant improvement when applied at the control rate. Would recommend trying the Scots product FIRST - could save you some money and critical time.

Fast acting. Easy to use. Read up online as bag directions do not specify, water really well into the ground after application. My yard was realky bad so it took more than one application but it works really well.

I have used a great lawn service for years. During July I always get a disease that I have patches of brown in my lawn. My lawn service identified it as Dollar Spot, but they offered no treatment for it. I subscribe to Scotts and receive emails on their product and how to treat problems. In June there was a special from Amazon for the Disease-Ex product to treat lawn diseases. I applied it after July 4th and about a week ago I have brown patches. The product didn't work for me.I'm disappointed. Maybe I did something wrong?

Maintaining St Augustine grass in North Florida is always a challenge given the constant battle with insects, fungus, weeds... I recently had a problem with take-all root rot in combination with gray leaf spot. Fungus stressed a large part of my lawn before I realized what was going on. I treat my lawn regularly with a group 3 fungicide, but after reading about it, I found that it's important to rotate fungicide groups (just like insecticides). This product did an amazing job showing results in days and well on the way to recovery in weeks. I applied Disease Ex in early June to finally get rid of a fungus I had from fall the previous year. My lawn has recovered. I'll use this product again which I believe is in Group 11, along with Group 3 product (both granular), and when needed apply a liquid Group 1 product to problem spots.

My sod lawn (Northern CA) had numerous patches of Red Thread and was starting to die back, thin out in spots and looked horrible. Applied entire bag on 250 square feet of lawn and within 2 weeks it was lush, filled in and the disease was gone. Two weeks later added a sprinkle of Scotts Turf Supreme fertilizer (which I have always used) and my lawn is verdant green and healthy again.

Applied two times at cure rate at 1 month interval. 4 bags $80! Front yard still had the disease in small patches, but back yard was abysmal. I had to use spectricide fungiscide for lawn disease to get better results. Not recommended for the questionable results.

After the recommended use, mushrooms started popping up all over my lawn. This is the 1st Scotts product I have ever had a problem with. In fact, I would love my money back.

! bought 8 10lb bags of disease ex spread it as per directions and within one week my lawn turned brown, It is not a lack of water as I water every other day.

Dealing with fairy ring and all patch (Root Rot) in my St. Augustine lawn in the Panhandle of Florida. Discussed options with the extension agent for our area and he recommended the active ingredient in Scotts Disease EX that treats both. How well is TBD. It is only effective for 14 days, read instructions. It will be necessary to re-apply. Solutions for fair ring and all patch are a complex process that include curative treatment, water management and proper fertilization. I am in curative mode, better to have been in the preventative mode in the first place. What's the difference. Curative requires twice the amount of Disease Ex as does the preventative mode.

Used Scott's DiseaseEX to prevent fungus issues in my St. Augustine during the hot humid days of June thru August in Florida. Worked well so far, no issues. Granules are easy to work with in spreaders, both hand held and rotary.

I used lesco perrenial ryegrass seed again this year and it came up beautifully. Problem is its prone to red thread. There was a general lack of uniform green with some yellowing which must have been unknown disease because it all cleared up. People here need to read the freaken label. It says DOUBLE the dose as a CURATIVE and use half as a preventative. My grass has turned deep green and is coming up with new sprouts. It absolutely brought out the best in my seed. The red thread has turned brown. I will have to repair it but you can see the difference in the spots. A couple spots have recovered. I couldnt throw milorganite this 4th because it was all bought up. But the lawn looks as good as when i fertilized it a few weeks ago. We have been having some really hot days too. The lawn looks professional now. This stuff is going to be thrown every spring now as a preventative and it seems to be saving me time, money and labor by allowing me to skip a milorganite dose. Props to Lesco seed and to this product!
