Owned for 2 yrs. Overheated wires shooting sparks and black smoke. Only reason we still have a house is because my wife was home and put it out with a fire extinguisher. Wasn't even using hot water at the time. Adjusting temp is difficult. You have to take the cover off and turn a brass nut. With the cover off, you risk getting an electric shock because there are all kinds of exposed wires. Seems like they could have had a knob on the outside to adjust temperature.

Tankless hot water tank is good for 1000 square feet my house.

Purchased for shower in outbuilding in Michigan (only used occasionally in summer). By third year, thermal switch would kick out every few showers. Now in fourth year happens every shower. Called and they said warranty is only 3 years and offered to sell me one for same price as new one. If only needing for couple years, works well.

Very disappointing. Did not work properly so we disconnected. We had better hot water and pressure without it. I would not recommend at all

Not sure why tank heaters are still made. This unit supplies my wife and I all the hot water we need or use. For the cost and space it requires this unit is wonderful. Energy efficiency is important. No need to turn off the heater on long trips like we used to do with the tank. 2nd one, last one lasted 11 years. Our water is relatively hard so not upset with that. Easy to replace.

Excellent product! I had one for 14 years! and I recently bought the second one from homedepot. They are made in Germany with very good quality components.

This lesser water heater does not keep the water constantly hot. Goes back and forth between hot and cold

This product is aesthetically pleasing (in case you have to install it in a visible location), the instructions and installation very clear and simple, and it performs very well supplying hot water to the shower and three faucets I use it for in the Caribbean. And to the washing machine too when needed. I selected it over a more compact unit with great brand name and specifications only because it had a strainer/filter at the inlet (I've found sediments in my piping before). If I were to offer one criticism it would have to be about its size; if you have limited space to work with this one could be challenging.

Purchase a unit to supplement the hot water in our kitchen sink that was as far away from the water heater as you can get. After the unit was installed it worked for one day and then ceased. Lotta time money and effort to get the proper circuit out there. Will not purchase again was returned for a refund.

Instructions could be improved. With 8 awg wire, it is very difficult to get the wire clamped to the terminal block. I ended up removing the terminal block, swapped the wire order to put the ground wire in the middle position, to match the incoming cable. The instructions for the flow switch are somewhat ambiguous, ended up having to adjust it via experimentation. Now that it is installed, it works well, and no issues with it. I suggest using thicker Teflon tape on the 1/2 inch NPT, as both in and out leaked with thin Teflon. I used the stuff normally used for natural gas fittings, and that sealed it perfectly.

THE GOOD: Works great. Fills tub then runs a shower with no shortage of hot water. Would probably service all draw points in a small house. THE BAD: almost too hot. Having trouble mixing appropriately for showers as the heater needs a minimal flow to stay on at all. So I get either cold water or so much hot I can barely stand it. I can probably adjust the flow rate in the unit to correct this. Installation instructions were a little vague. You probably won’t find the called for two conductor plus ground 8 gauge cable at the box store. You’ll have to run a three conductor and abandon one by cutting it short and not connecting to anything. Then connect red and black to the terminals on your two pole 40 amp breaker and to matching colour connectors in heater. Ground to ground. Lastly The strain relief cable clamp is a little flimsy but not a major problem. Overall highly recommend this product.

Not as expected. I had this installed in my utility room for my washer and sink. The water gets hot for the sink but only warm for the washer. I don't know if the flow to the washer is not strong enough or what but at least I get warm water washing. And the washer and sink are right next to each other and on the same line so....I don't know.

I have used Stieble-Eltron tankless electric water heaters to heat water for my whole house for more than10 years, and have been extremely satisfied in every way. When one of my older DHC-E 10's stopped working, I ordered the DHC 10-2 as a replacement. What I failed to notice is that the former needs only a very low flow (about 1/4 gal/min) to activate, while the latter needs about 3/4 gal/min to activate. In my situation, a low flow rate is required to get the necessary temperature rise, so the DHC 10-2 was not going to work. For someone who can tolerate a higher flow rate and lower temperature rise, I'm sure the DHC 10-2 will be a great heater. For me, the solution was to replace the DHC 10-2 with the DHC-E 8/10. The latter is the replacement for the one I've been using for the last 10 years. It is a wonderful product - plenty of hot water with low electricity consumption. I highly recommend it.

Installed, adjusted, working. Cost about as much to install (in materials) as the unit cost (I needed 50' of 8/2 wire). Only complaint is on install the bracket holding the wire junction block became disconnected due to the stiffness of the large gauge wire. It was easily reconnected. Flow rate and incoming water temp are key factors, so best to make sure your situation will work by testing these values. Still working great now a month after install. Will be interested to see how our moderately hard well water (7 grains) affects the performance over time.

Works fine but wish it had a high and low setting

Used for kitchen sink which takes forever to get hot water as it is on opposite side of house from hot water tank. Installed in basement below kitchen sink rather than under sink cabinet where there is little room for plumbing and it works wonderfully, now have hot water in 10 seconds. Would get hot faster if installed under sink in cabinet as it is closer, but by installing in basement did not have to work lying down. Other than cost of running the heavy gauge wire to unit no negatives.
