amazing light in our rooms but have concerns
brightens up our kitchen and bathrooms but now that it is getting colder outside all 3 have major condensation build up inside the dome. I can see in the near future that there will be a problem of water leaking through the ceiling. not at all happy with the install.

Beware
We had two installed in living area and it is like a fluorescent light. Much too harsh for a living area. I would recommend for a laundry room or work area only. The company does not offer tinted diffusers so we place tissue paper over the diffuser to soften that harsh fluorescent light. Now the diffusers are warped and the cover rings don’t fit properly.

VELUX Sun Tunnels are covered by a 10-year product warranty against defects in material & workmanship. If your diffusers have warped, please email us details at vcustomer.service@velux.com so we can correct this issue for you.
In terms of light appearance, we offer six decorative diffuser film options for current model VELUX Sun Tunnels. Adding a decorative diffuser will increase interior aesthetics and visual appeal.
We would recommend that you add the Neutral Light Diffuser Film as this will help you achieve the lighting that you desire in that living space. The Neutral Light Diffuser Film is tinted to offer a warm light, similar to most artificial light bulbs, as opposed to the natural white daylight offered by the standard Sun Tunnel kits. The 14 inch rigid tubing sun tunnel should have an expected light output of 290 watts when the sun angle is 40 degrees. The flexible tubing model will be much less at approximately 80 watts. I love the light it is giving in my kitchen!...
I love the light it is giving in my kitchen! I have the 14 inch. I was having a new roof installed so it was the perfect time to add a sun tunnel. The installation was done quickly by my roofers. The dark flashing blends well with my roof, too. I kept telling my son we have a space bubble! I may install a smaller one later above my desk area.

Quite a bit of quality engineering has gone into this product and, overall, it performs well and was easy to install. It does bring an amazing amount of light into the room.I took a few stars off of the score for the following reasons:* The included instructions are limited, don't identify the hardware properly, and skip steps. Important points like "don't throw this part away" are cryptic pictograms. Fortunately, there are lots of youtube videos--watch them before installing.* For what it is, it's very expensive. And I had to purchase the 4' extension tube (only needed 2' but it wasn't available) which cost an absurd extra $123 for two thin sheets of polished sheet metal and some tape.

Installed four Sun Tunnels
We just replaced three old sun tunnels that were installed prior to us moving into our home over 20 years ago (two 14 inch flexible tunnels in the living room and one 10 inch rigid tunnel in the guest bathroom with 24 inch extension). We bought them through Home Depot and had them professionally installed. We love the new sun tunnels so much that we added one more 14 inch flexible to our newly remodeled kitchen. The three 14 inch sky tunnels are in vaulted ceilings and the 10 inch bathroom tunnel goes through the attic. I love the inside trim that is flush to the ceiling giving it a much more finished look than the old ones. I don't see any hardware from the inside through the plastic moulding. The exterior low profile flashing looks great as well. I love the bright sunlight coming into our home and I don't think the natural light is blue like other reviews have stated. We are very satisfied and will enjoy these new skylights for many years to come.

Love my Sun Tunnel
When I was replacing roofs, I purchased a total of 4 of these for 2 of my houses. The roofers did the roof part and I installed the inside myself. As a female I found it incredibly easy, but I am a diy girl. In my house, my kitchen is now bright and beautiful. My living room, well it was my placement of it that i wish i would have changed, because of my attic walking space, but it still gives a lot of light into the dark side of my living room. We hardly turn on any lights now. At my other house we are coming down to the 1st floor, but wish there was an add on or small section that could be added to the tunnel itself to add just a bit of light to the hallway upstairs. The tube will be covered, not visible but would love to have just a small bit of that natural light to come thru there as well. Love my lights

Great Light but how do i remove debris from tube
I've had great experiences with your product but I now have debris in the tube and I have a very simplified that shows how to remove the "beauty ring" but not the difuser.

Once the trim ring is removed, there may be 3 or more little tabs that hold the diffuser assembly upwards in that ceiling assembly. Loosen those screws only slightly to push those tabs out of the way. (some sun tunnels have them, some do not)
You may need to take a small, flat (or common) screwdriver to work the gasket and diffuser out from the assembly. Use a little Vasoline on the tip of the screwdriver to make this process a bit easier.
Once you have that completed, you will need to check to see if the Sun Tunnel tubing in the attic space has any exposed seams, holes, tears or screw heads exposed. If you find those uncovered, please use aluminum tape to seal those areas.
If you have a flexible tubing model-You may also want to check to see that the snap ring (ring that attaches tunnel to exterior & interior components) on both ends of the tunnel are secure. This will prevent any bugs or dirt from getting into that tubing space again.

Just what we were hoping for
Looking to bring more light into a dark kitchen. Thought sun tunnels were the way to go but a little unsure of the outcome. After installation the sun tunnels exceeded our expectations and provide better lighting than we hoped for.

Love the light
We installed 5 sun tunnels about a year ago and have loved the light. In a previous house I had two of a competitor's models and I NEVER had any bugs get into the tube ( after 8 years). That's my only complaint about the Velux model..........we have had them cleaned and retaped twice since installation and they need it again! My husband and I do not do ladders, so I have to call the installation company to come clean them. I think it is a design flaw. The last time they came they told us there had been some defective tape and they retaped each unit. No change. And the bugs are like wasp sized, not tiny little bugs. I so wish this could be corrected,because otherwise I adore the light they provide and the overall improvement to the house. The installation company has been super, but I think Velux needs to look into it.

Insects should not be entering your Sun Tunnels. The first step is always to check for any exposed seams, holes, or screw heads. If found, reseal the exposed areas with VELUX aluminum tape, as you have done already. You may also want to check to see that the snap ring (ring that attaches tunnel to exterior & interior components) on both ends of the tunnel are secure.

cracked base
I put 2 of these sky tunnels on a brand new house in Az last year and both of the bases have cracked letting a lot of rain in, have not tried to contact velux yet but no matter what they do this will require a lot of work on my part.

Exactly what was needed.
I bought these over 12 years ago and am now specifiying them for a new build I am about to do for my employer. I installed the low profile in my home in a dark hallway and the middle of the kitchen. The first minute we installed them we loved them. We also love the moonlight that flows thru illuminating the kitchen and hall. An awesome buy!!!

What a difference
In the middle of a roof replacement decided to add a tunnel skylight. Our den was like a dungeon and now it is the brightest room in the entire house, without using electricity.

Great light without cost
We live in Jacksonville Florida had a family room that was dark because of a sunroom that we added got two 14" solar tubes best decision we made not only look great they gave us the light that we needed.
