A: Impact Dome Sun Tunnels are normally used in Hurrican Prone areas or areas with threats of hail where it is required as it is made of polycarbonate. Acrylic dome models are used in all other areas of the country. Check with your local building code to determine what is needed for your area.
A: For hurricane-prone areas, you will want to choose a VELUX Sun Tunnel with an Impact Rated (polycarbonate) dome. The TGR 014 1000, or TMR 014 1000. These have Florida Product Approval #6393 & Tested for Cycle Pressure +50/-50 Wind Zone 3, Missile Level C which should be applicable in those areas.
