Bidets

Question 1

What is the difference between a washlet and a bidet?

Accepted Answer

A traditional Bidet is a type of standalone bathroom fixture that uses a concentrated water stream to clean the user after going to the bathroom and resembles a toilet. Bidets can use water with a retractable or separate hand-held sprayer, faucet, or spray from the bottom of the bowl. Bidets are not considered toilets, but there are bidet attachments that can add the functions of a bidet to a toilet. A Washlet is a registered trademark of the Japanese toilet company Toto, used for their line of cleansing toilet seats with a warm water spray feature of a bidet. Washlets are a type of bidet toilet seat, which is a standalone module that can be added to the top of a toilet to add the features of a bidet to the toilet. Some bidet toilet seats also have self-cleaning features and warmed seats.

-Bidets can be more affordable compared to toilet paper use.

Depending on the type of bidet you are installing the process difficulty can range from beginner to intermediate. Please visit our guide for instructions on how to install a bidet for instructions and different bidet types. -Align the bidet over the drain and water supply lines.
-Mark the placement and drill pilot holes.
-Secure the bidet to the wall using proper tools and materials.
-Apply silicone sealant around the base of the bidet, as you would do when installing a toilet.
-Connect the water supply, shut-off valve, and drain.
-Open the valve to turn on the water and test the bidet for proper function and leaks.
