Inspired by his parents and now with a family of his own, you can find him always experimenting, fixing things, working in his driveway or building in his garage, giving you the confidence to try it. If you can imagine it, you can most likely build it – from build to finally made.

Share a Slice this Summer!

There’s no better way to share a bond than to share a slice of pizza! Thanks to the Ora 12 Propane Gas Cast Aluminum Pizza Oven, the backyard or patio is the perfect outdoor venue to host a family friendly pizza party celebrating dads from the DIYer to the griller. Here are some tips to get your outdoor party going!

Build a Custom DIY Pizza Cart
Take your pizza on the go! The versatility of a rolling cart can make your evening almost effortless, stocked with everything needed for your outdoor food adventure from propane tanks to utensils. And when we’re not cooking, the cart can double as a repotting station.
A custom DIY cart can be made from all of the supplies found at Home Depot. Thanks to Ryobi’s cordless convenience, this cart can be built using the Ryobi ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Kit and Ryobi 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw.

Custom DIY Pizza Cart Instructions
Before you begin, please follow recommended safety guidelines when operating power tools. The below cut list is an example.
- 1 2”x6”x8’ (Kiln-Dried Southern Yellow Pine Lumber) in half.
At each end, along the width, mark 2 ¾.” Use a speed square to draw a 45-degree angle and cut along the line (the finished cut will look like a dog ear). Set aside. - 2 2”x6”x8’ at 21” intervals for a qty of 3
- 3 2”x4”x8’ studs at the following lengths: qty 2 at 24”, qty 4 at 30 ¾”, qty 2 at 36”
- 4 1”x4”x8’ furring strips at 24” intervals
- 5 1”x2”x8’ furring strips at 24” intervals
- 6 2” dowel rod in half
Assemble and join the cuts. Forstner bit is optional.
- Step 1: Use 2 ½” x 3/8” TimberLOK Screws to join A to B at 3 intervals, equally spaced apart (leave a 6-inch offset at each end to insert 2” dowel rod)
- Step 2: Cut a 2” hole 3-inches from the dog ear, at center, to insert dowel rod between A pieces
- Step 3: Build 2 sets of legs from C by joining two 30 ¾” studs to a single 36” stud perpendicular to the ends using TimberLOK screws
- Step 4: Attach the legs from step 3 to the inside of the cart frame built in steps 1-2 with TimberLOK screws. Then attach the 24” studs from C to join each leg for added stability.
- Step 5: Attach furring strips to top and bottom of cart from D and E with desired pattern, secured with 1 ¾” brad nails. For a clean look, a notch can be cut around the leg with a jigsaw.
- Step 6: Secure 4” locking wheels to the bottom of the cart.
- Step 7: Sand down the cart with an orbital sander for a clean finish.
- Step 8: Protect the cart with a stain or waterproof sealant.
Tackle the Preparation
Hosting a party brings back memories from my childhood: dad cutting the lawn at sunrise, mom rolling out the coolers and party trays late afternoon, and we would all pitch in to make dinner by nightfall.
But unlike my childhood, Ryobi’s 40V battery and Whisper Series systems offer gas-like power, eliminating cords and noisy lawn equipment, giving you the freedom to move quickly without waking the neighbors. Whether you use a Ryobi Lawn Mower, Ryobi Trimmer, or Ryobi Leaf Blower, the 40V battery powers it all.

Pressure washing your patio? Consider using Ecolab Scientific Clean's 1 gallon Exterior Wash to remove dirt, grease, and stains from algae, mold and mildew.

Spruce Up the Patio
One of the simplest ways to spruce up a patio: visit the Garden Center and pick up annuals or perennials, re-pot them in stylish containers such as the 16 in. Kentucky Walnut Resin Wine Barrel using Vigoro’s All-Purpose Garden Soil. Protect your hands with Firm Grip’s Trade Master Duck Canvas Glove.

Give your guests the royal treatment and add a rug or an outdoor fan from the Home Decorators Collection. For ambience (our family favorite), pick up the budget-friendly TIKI Weather Resistant 60in Torch Homespun Bamboo.
Get Connected
Get more visibility into your backyard with The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus. Keep an eye on your children, receive alerts when guests arrive, or check for intruders in the middle of the night. Set the mood with a wireless speaker and enjoy the night away, worry-free!

Have Fun!
I could spend hours (or days) preparing for a party and tire myself out, but there is no greater reward than seeing my friends or family happy – from striking up a fun conversation or enjoying a bite or burning a pie, it’s this experience that makes it all worth it.
