How can I rent a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or vans you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go moving van, pickup truck, or flatbed truck. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You might also visit our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is at your store.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the documentation before selecting a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
