How long is screw. How far does the screw thread into the socket.
Hello, the thread tap on this item is about .5 inches. We normally send our hardware with 1" and 1-1/2" screws.

Hello Shad, these are made with a sturdy ring for pulling. They should not break on you, as long as they are being used for normal doors and drawers and not for something heavy like an appliance.
Can you use this with the backplate?
Hello Charissa, we would not recommend trying to use this pull with a backplate as the item sits flush against the cabinet/drawer.

Have a very old one at home, trying to match. Does this one have a flat back to the 'head' of the lion with two or three small, sharp points that dig into the wood it is fastened to?
The back of the Lions head is not flat, it is hollow with area to allow the screw to enter and hold the fixture tight to a drawer or door.
The back of the head is flat. No teeth to dig into the wood it will be fastened to.
How are these attached? Threaded post and nut?
They are attached by a number 8/32 screw that threads into the back of the piece.
