Z-STOP is a zinc moss, algae and fungus inhibitor that is applied in strips to old or new roofs. It works with any wood, flat tile, metal or composition roof. The natural action of rain water time releases zinc carbonate, a proven fungi stat, which then washes down the roof preventing destructive moss, algae and fungus growth. Simply unroll on each side of the roof's peak and then use the provided nails to attach. Helps eliminate unsightly roof tops.

Thank you for your inquiry. How long does this last? 20+ years (or the life of your roof) I had a reshingle job done 15 years ago with this strip and this spring there appears to be a lot more moss clumps forming. 1. Assuming you added the zinc strip 15 years ago - and it was properly installed by butting it up (full exposure) against both sides of the ridge cap and below chimneys, skylights, etc. Rainwater must run off the ridge cap across the Z-STOP and down the roof. Rainwater must run over Z-STOP to become effective. 2. Has the roof been moss free for the entire time up until this year? Is there roof debris, ie; branches, twigs, leaves, blocking the flow of fungistats that flow down the roof? If zinc strip was installed after the roof and there was existing moss, it should have been cleaned and removed, killing the root system. Z-STOP is a moss, algae, and fungus inhibitor. I've read some articles saying replace every 5 years but think that's excessive. No, you do not need to replace every 5 years, that is incorrect. The zinc strip is the thickness of a playing card when you first purchase the roll of zinc...over the years it continues to thin, however it will not lose its effectiveness. Depending on roof exposure (to the sun, amount of rain, trees/branch overhang, etc) and in areas of severe moss, algae, mildew or fungus growth, several horizontal rows of Z-STOP application may be necessary to assure its effectiveness over the entire roof surface. The distance covered is 16-18 feet down the roof.
Thank you for your inquiry. To fasten Z-STOP to a concrete, metal or flat tile roof shingle, drill a tap hole in the tile and fasten the Z-STOP with a pan head self tapping sheet metal screw with a neoprene washer under the head of the screw. You can use the washers on the nails we supply with Z-STOP.
Thank you for your inquiry. You can use liquid nails adhesive but we highly recommend testing the adhesion prior to full installing to make sure it holds to your expectation. Be sure to wipe the MB50 clean to remove any oil residue before applying liquid nails. It is best to use nails with this product due to MB50’s tendency to curl to its natural coil since it is sold in a roll.
