Maintaining Layers?
Hello, The Ultragreen Compost Maker will work in a rotating compost bin. Turning compost piles is necessary to loosen up the material so that oxygen can circulate and carbon dioxide can escape. Composting takes 4-8 weeks so starting in October will give you plenty of time to get ready for the Spring 2015 season.You can alternate adding "green" and "brown" material but we don't recommend removing any of the compost until it is ready. The compost will appear fine, dark and moist will have a sweet smell when it is ready. Thank you
how do u use this ultra green ,, is it a granual that I just spread on the soil befor tilling?
Hello, The best way to use the Ultragreen Compost Maker is to mix 2 cups of the Compost Maker with each layer of your compost pile. Alternate layers of brown material (dry leaves and twigs) and green material (newly cut grass and kitchen scraps) with garden soil inbetween each layer. Thank you
