do I need padding underneath the engineered flooring? Heritage mills PF9675
Yes, when floating a floor you need to incorporate a pad designed for floating hardwood/laminate floors to perform minor leveling and to absorb impact noise.
The photos of the product do not show any knots, is that true or have they been photo shopped out? I bought a competitors product based on a sample and photos that showed no knots but the actual product was loaded with them, they were returned.
These photos are of actual material, but all floors will contain natural light/dark color and grain variations, mineral streaks, small knots, burls, etc. You are purchasing real wood floors.
Yes they have knots and some dark to black streaks. Every piece is different of course. We purchased overage and selected the best looking boards and cut offending ends of some to use for starting and ending rows. That reduced waste. Otherwise turned out looking nice.
Can it be nailed directly to the existing hard wood floor?
No, this is a click floor designed for floating installation. It cannot be stapled or nailed, as the click system will not accept fasteners.
It’s meant to be a floating floor
I am seeing everywhere that you need to use an approved cleaner, however I can not fine anywhere what that would be. What cleaners, specifically are recommended for these floors that will not void the warranty?

Would this type hardwood flooring be suitable for stairs?
While the product can be used for stairs, it is not intended or warranted for use on stairs due to the abusive traffic in comparison to normal household areas.
Does this product have the same mat finish as the golden oak nail down engineered flooring?
This product has a matte finish - absolutely no gloss at all. We did our entire upstairs with this floor and really loved it.
Yes, the 3/8" click and 1/2" engineered floors feature the same finish.
The low gloss finish on the floor came out to dull after the install. Is there any type of varnish/wax/or anything? That we can use to bring out the finish a little bit more?
Never use waxes, polishes, refreshers, etc. on factory applied finishes to create a shine. Waxes/polishes will contaminate the finish, leave residues that smudge and grab dirt, and may cause any future refinishing attempts to fail. If you wish to change the gloss level, we would only recommend that you have the floor professionally screened and recoated with a higher gloss urethane by a professional floor refinisher; the factory applied finish must be abraded in a very specific fashion for any new coatings to adhere properly.
I left it just as is. No varnish.
