How do you test a 9 Volt Battery?
The battery organizer includes a removable tester. Locate the "L" shaped flap on the corner of the tray, just above the brand label. Lift the flap to reveal the testing area. Place the 9-volt battery onto the contacts of the tester. The tester has three LED lights to indicate a battery’s power level. Three lights indicate a good battery, two lights indicate a low battery, and a single light means the battery is dead.

Do the batteries stay snug, so that when it's hanging on the wall they don't run the risk of being knocked out? Tks
No. I don’t use it on a wall but it has tabs to hang it. If you did hang it, some batteries would fall immediately. I tested it to verify. Not a very sensible design in my opinion.
The batteries are a snug fit while sitting on the counter. I definitely would not feel comfortable hanging it on the wall! I was a little disappointed in the holder but I’m honestly not certain what I was expecting! I would love to feel secure enough to hang it on the wall
Does it have a built in battery to power it or use the power in the batteries that are being tested?
No battery in the tester. When you test the battery it completes the circuit.
It appears to use the power of the battery being tested, but since there are no instructions with it, just guessing.
