Here is the bullets for the product. Though it will work in oil and solvent based paints . What you are smelling the solvents gassing from the product "epoxy" Once fully cured the smell will disappear as in this product. This product might give some relief but will not block the strongest of the solvent smells. Its works as instructed. Smell is as advertised. I decided to paint the bathroom first and the smell is really strong for me, I am very sensitive. How can I down the scent? I've left the window open and placed a plate of vinegar. Anything I can do to neutralize the scent?
You could coat with a stain blocker. I would turn up the heat to dry out the paint faster to get it to gas out . This product will become less scented to 2- 4 months
Hello and thank you for trying our product! Scent is very subjective from nose to nose, but our product is specially formulated to last for 2-4 months at the rate of 1 oz per gallon. However, if you are overly sensitive to smell you can use less than the full ounce if desired.
Well if the smell is strong use half of the package per gallon. Or when you paint on your second coat use some paint without the smell.
You can try the following: Place a bucket of water in the center of the room and leave it overnight. Fill shallow bowls with water and add several lemon slices. Or you can mix equal parts distilled white vinegar and water in bowls and set them around the room to absorb odors.
Hi GL, For future use PPG recommends using less of the additive for a milder scent. Since you already painted the bathroom the scent should naturally degrade over time. The more ventilation and airflow the better.
Probably need to re-paint without a fragrance.
