Hi, the Novatto sink you are looking at is 18.25" left to right (length) and 13.5 front to back (width). With the measurements provided, you might want to cut the hole bigger. Another possibility is my NP-U213907 which is 23.25 (l to r) x 15 (f to b) x 7.25-inches, but it might be too deep at 7.25" (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Novatto-18-25-in-Rectangular-Undermount-Porcelain-Bathroom-Sink-in-White-with-Overflow-NP-U193902/319825432) and you might want to cut the hole bigger. OR my NP-U193911(https://www.homedepot.com/s/NP-U193911?NCNI-5) which is 20.5 (l to r) x 16.25 (f to b) x 6.75-inches.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A better solution could be purchasing a drop-in or a vessel sink that will just cover the hole such as my drop-in sink, NP-DI2185511 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Novatto-Rectangular-23-in-Drop-In-Porcelain-Bathroom-Sink-in-White-with-Overflow-Hole-NP-DI2185511/325607049 OR my vessel sink NP-01141 (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Novatto-Modern-Porcelain-Rectangle-Vessel-Sink-in-White-NP-01141/306610318), OR my NP-01321 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Novatto-Porcelain-Vessel-Sink-in-White-NP-01321/306610285, OR my NP-208513 - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Novatto-Rectangular-Vessel-Sink-with-Grooved-Exterior-in-White-Porcelain-NP-208513/320231433 OR my NP-018131 - https://novatto.com/collections/ceramic-sinks/products/porcelain-rectangular-vessel-sink-in-white-with-overflow-np-018131.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please be aware that ONLY my NP-018131 has an overflow hole, NONE of the other vessel sinks have over-flow so you will need a different drain. The undermounts and the drop-in DO have an over-flow hole so you might be able to re-use your drain IF it is an overflow drain.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do not hesitate to reach out to me at support@novatto.com if you have any more questions or thoughts.
Hi Lise. My sinks are sealed in the factory. Having said that, sealant will break down over time depending on environmental exposure and how long it sat on the factory floor/warehouse shelving before arriving at your home. It really is up to the customer if they want to go that extra step. It does no damage, and it is only your time. If you go this route make sure your sink is clean. Once it is completely clean and free of any dirt, you can seal it to protect it from stains and discoloration. There are many sealing products available for ceramic sinks like my Glacier Ice Sealant wipes but you may also use any wax-based sealant. Glacier Ice wipes as well as wax sealants are designed to form an invisible barrier over the ceramic without changing the color or texture of the surface. Before you apply the sealant, make sure that your ceramic sink is dry and free of any grease or installation residue. Using the pre-soaked wipe, apply the sealant in small, overlapping circles. Use gentle pressure as you rub it into the surface. Let the sealant sit on your sink for 2 minutes before wiping off any excess with the included microfiber cloth. Once you have allowed enough time for the sealant to fully cure (overnight is best), use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe down your sink until all excess product has been removed from its surface. This process is essential in creating an even matte finish over your entire sink so that you can enjoy its original appearance for longer periods of time with less risk of discoloration or corrosion damage to its finish. It really is up to the customer where they want the overflow hole to be: to be seen or not to be seen, that is the question. Usually though, a sink's overflow opening sits opposite the sink's faucet in a place where you normally do not see the opening unless you're bending over the sink or looking into the mirror above the sink. This means they are on the side furthest from the mirror. But don't let the overflow hole's decorative trim fool you. You need to take into consideration where your hands will be when washing up. Will they be bumping the sink's wall? Is the spout long enough to allow easy hand washing and teeth brushing or will the sink's wall be a slight interference? In the long run, it really is up to what you prefer. If you have any other questions please email me at support@novatto.com
The minimum width would be 12.75-13 but that is with you seeing the edge and no room for error. I highly suggest you turn the sink upside down on a piece of larger paper and trace it. Then measure into the sink's opening to get the size you want. The standard is to cover the lip, so width wise would be an opening of around 11.5, and that is the full edge being covered by the countertop. Remember, these sinks are standard but there is always the possibility of when they were created that one edge is larger or smaller than the other. Please email me at support@novatto.com if you have any other questions or if you would like a pdf template of the sink.
Great question and even a better catch. No it does not have a faucet hole. An incorrect box was check-off on the back end. It has since been corrected.
