Can a foam mattress be used on the top bunk?
Hi Kathy, we recommend coil spring mattresses. However, the slats are only 2.5" apart, so a foam mattress should be fine!
Do I need a regular size twin mattress or do I meed XLtwin?
Use only a twin mattress which is 74" - 75" long and 37 1/2" - 38 1/2" wide on the upper bunk and a full mattress which is 74" - 75" long and 53" - 54" wide on the lower bunk. Ensure the thickness of the mattress on the upper bunk is greater than 4" and that it does not exceed 6".
Can the beds be separated?

Does it have to be resting on a wall or can I have the bed placed in the middle of the room..is it self supporting and sturdy ?
