      Answer This Question

Hi there! Thank you for having interest with our device. Sadly, the camera that you are asking needs to be always plugged in to an outlet to work. To add to that, this camera is designed to work indoors only. We are not advising you to put it outside as it might void the one year warranty if it got broke. The good news is that, we have a lot of outdoor cameras that you can check by visiting our website which is www.mygeeni.com. If you have other questions, please call us at +1 (888) 232-3143 or send us an email at support@mygeeni.com. You may also visit our support website support.mygeeni.com for live chat support. I will be calling on-line support for help
I own the Geeni doorbell camera and a Geeni light as well. I had no issues in setting up either of those items and I have been happy with both, so I could not wait to try out the Sentinel indoor camera. I spent a frustrating hour trying to add the camera to my phone app before I gave up. The process truly is simple, and the steps are easy to follow, it just is not happening. Today I will try with on-line support to see what the problem is and then send another review once I can get the camera to work. No hub is required with this camera, but you will need to purchase a microSD card if you want to store footage.

        A little disappointed
I really wanted to fall in love with this camera, as pan and tilt cameras have always been in the extremely expensive zone. Setting the camera up was time consuming, as it tried to connect to my 5 Ghz network while ignoring the 2.4 Ghz one. That solved, it took a number of tries to finally read the QR code on my phone. Once working, the picture is clear and sharp, it actually does track motion well and it works well in a totally dark room. On several mornings, I discovered that it had parked itself with the lens looking straight down and it had gone to sleep. This required me to unplug it and plug it back in (picture 4). I will continue to use it to watch the cats from down the street, but as a replacement for a security system, it still has a way to go. I have 43 years in the security systems business, so my expectations are high.

Love the pan and auto-track options!!
This is our 5th Geeni camera and they work great!! They are easy to setup with the Geeni app and produce clear pictures that can be viewed on our cell phones or our personal computers. To see the camera views on our PCs, we installed the Geeni app inside an app emulator software, i.e. BlueStacks, MEmu, etc. The pan capability of this camera is easy to use with just the swipe of our fingers on our cell phones or using the mouse on our computers. The auto-track capability works well and is funny watching the camera track us as we move around the room. The camera is so cute at approximately 4 ½ inches tall. The electrical cord is approximately 6 feet 8 inches long. Made in China. Highly recommend!!

        Excellent indoor camera
This camera has so many options. It will actively track motion and record pretty much anything you need it to. It was easily paired with my genie app which I have two other cameras connected to already making it very convenient to see in one place all three views. The app has many great options for night vision motion tracking and much more! If you need a doggie cam or baby monitor this is the camera you want. I’ll be purchasing more geeni products soon.

        Cute little guy.
This is the 4th Geeni camera I have. The setup is normally very easy however I did have to call Support since this camera, even though connected to my network, would not register on my iPhone. Once the Support showed me a pull down in my app, it connected. What makes this camera unique other than the exceptional picture quality and a full range of functions available in the app is that the camera follows the motion making this almost a toy having it follow you throughout the room. I placed mine in a room in the basement that is mostly unused however with windows I want to monitor. Nice!

        good for my needs
I have an indoor security camera set up inside my home so I can watch my dog while I am gone for multiple hours at work since she is not used to being alone. However she is starting to go back and forth between different rooms as she is getting more comfortable. Since I had no way to watch her I wanted to get another indoor security camera for that room. When I found the Geeni Sentinel 1080p high def indoor camera I decided to give it a try as I have another one of their products and have been very happy with it so I figured I would give it a try. It is wireless so as long as you can plug it in then it can be setup anywhere. I like the ability to tilt it and move it around with the app on my phone. I am able to zoom in and out as well. It has a few features that I do not really use such as voice control and motion alerts. Though I may utilize the motion alerts if I am on vacation. I love that there is no hub needed as I find that to be extra stuff that I have to deal with when I don’t have to. While it does feel a little lightweight I think under normal conditions it will last a long time. It has a memory card slot so if you want to record anything you can. Be aware though that it does not come with one. The slot is very easy to get to as is the reset button. The instructions were easy to read and even gave some instructions if you have dual band internet. This unit does not operate on 5g which seems to be a pretty common thing. Setup should have been pretty straightforward and easy however for some reason mine was not. I tried easy setup and regular neither of which wanted to work. I had to keep resetting the camera even though it was in set up mode. To be honest I am not sure why this happened in my case maybe it was user error maybe the product. Eventually I did get it set up and it works well enough for my needs. I did find that I had to move it from where it was positioned on a dresser next to a window to a spot across the room from the window as without the room light on the picture was very dark. Once I moved it the picture was much better and I could actually tell what I was looking at. Overall this is a good entry level camera.

Better than described, works nicely after setting up
Once set up, this camera works very nicely both on an Android phone and also on a PC, even though the manufacturer says that there is no computer app. More on this topic below. The manufacturer also has allows using the camera via a standard web browser. The image quality is good with a wide field of view, although there is the expected barrel distortion (rectangles are distorted into curves) that happens when have a wide field of view. The manual is excellent and the android app has very clear instructions, including what to do to make sure that the WiFi connection is at 2.4 GHz, the frequency required for the device (the description makes it very clear not to use 5GHz). For reasons I cannot fathom the device refused to set up using both the QR code method and the EZ mode method the first dozen or so times I tried to use them before suddenly setting up using the QR code method after sitting non-useable for a day or so plugged into power. I had earlier set up another camera (Geeni CW036 Smart Camera) by this same company using the same Android app using the same WiFi but this Geeni CW047 Pan and tilt camera refused to set-up despite multiple attempts by me and very courteous telephone support discussions. The telephone support people with whom I spoke were very courteous and helpful, although they were not able to talk me through how to get the camera to work. After being plugged in for hours in the mode where it ready for connection I noticed that it would periodically go through its startup sequence of homing the motors and flashing the indicator that it was ready to try connecting. I would, from time to time, show it the QR code on the phone app and for over a dozen times it did nothing useful. Then, for reasons I do not understand, it did respond using the QR mode and connected and set up. Since then it has worked very well. I give it an overall rating of Excellent for its performance after the balky setup and that it can also be used with a PC, something that the manufacturer does not describe as possible. A very slick PC program (an App, if you will) that allows installing and running Android apps on PCs exists. The program is free (I have absolutely no affiliation with the people who create or provide this program or with people who provide any other software) and is called LDPlayer and can be found at PDPlayer.net. It was created so that gamers could run Android games on PCs. LDPlayer works very will with other Android apps as well by simplying using it the same as if installing and then running apps on a smartphone. Giving that a try, I started LDPlayer on my PC, installed the Geeni app, and it immediately allowed my to see both of the Geeni cameras that I have up and running. Two of the images I have attached to this review show that Geeni app running in LDPlayer. The first one shows the main camera screen in the Geeni app and the second one shows the view out the window as displayed on the PC. Both of those images are exact duplicates of what I see on my smartphone. So, I can use this camera with my smartphone and on my PC. There is also the ability to use a web browser interface and I tried that with Chrome and it worked well, although I tend to like running the Geeni app inside of LDPlayer for PC access rather than using the browser interface. The motion control sensing has three sensitivity levels and has a scheduler as to when motion sensing is to be active. The Geenie app does not allow, as near as I can tell, setting up up windows where motion detection is to occur so motion detection is to occur so it looks like motion detection for this camera is the entire screen. So, this is a great camera that works well after getting it set up.

see who is at the door anytime
This camera was easy to set up after installing the geeni app. I used the bluetooth set up on my phone. This is for installing inside the house. I will be putting in my kitchen out the window in an enclosed porch. Living in a rural area it is now a must to see who is coming and going around my house. This camera can move if needed and my phone will alert me to any movement by a doorbell ring. I can also talk and listen. I have it on recording 24 hours a day. I have installed a 64GB SD card (which is sold separately) and it will take up to a 128 GB card which I am told will record will record for months. The power cord is about 5 feet long and also comes with screws and wall anchors I took a picture with it at night and I am very pleased at the quality of the photo

Fun and Functional All in One
Love this camera! It works out of the box! The camera plugs in with a usb or outlet. It synced quickly and was up and running in minutes. The kids love being able to check in on each other from different rooms. They call it our new robot since the lens moves around. The microphone is clear and the picture is crisp. Having the camera makes our home feel more secure. Being able to check the camera on my phone is a fantastic feature. Additional skills like motion sensors alerts and night vision make the camera both fun and functional as a security device.
