yes, Handy lid insert fits snuggly on a 5 gallon bucket and is designed to allow you to grow vegetables hydroponically meaning with their roots in a water / fertilizer solution [you can you-tube the Dutch bucket system or hydroponics or my personal favorite aquaponics, where you use fish to generate the fertilizer and use the plants to clean the water for the fish.] I am currently using it for a tomato tree [yes in Florida they are perennial not annual] I like the insert as it is made of a heavy grade of plastic and should last for years.

Great project, but still not sure its for me.
It is big. I'm new at hydroponics and didn't realize how big this was. It fit into a 5 gal bucket however I was using pea pebbles and they fell through the openings. Bought a bag of lava rocks and a tomato plant. Washed the rocks and the soil off of the tomato plant, gently placed the roots around the rocks and put into the 5 gal bucket with a good hydroponic ferterlizer and a 4 inch air stone. Here's hoping. I think a 5 or 6 inch net pot would do the job. It is an adventure.

No Snap-Ring and can't snap on to buckets
No snap-ring on this Basket is a problem. Any plants that get top-heavy will fall over. Viagrow did have a ring on the baskets at one time, but as of now, they have no ring in the basket as you can see in my picture. A mistake that will cost the company money as buyers go where the Quality is and buy bucket baskets that have the snap-ring so your tomato plants don't fall over. Don't get me wrong - these are good bucket baskets if your plants stay short but if your plants get top-heavy, not good!

                  seem very durable
My wife is very excited to put these to use. She is busy deciding what will be planted. These lid inserts seem to be very durable, I have no doubt they will last many seasons of use. I don't know much about hydroponics, but I imagine these will fit the bill just fine. The fact that they fit two different size buckets is great. I can hardly wait for the tomatoes this year.

Easy to Use Pot Mesh Bucket Lids
We are new to Hydroponics/Aquaponics, but we would like to try it. We got these mesh lids because they are made to fit over 5 gallon buckets. These buckets will then be easy to manage for hydroponics and will sit easily in our small greenhouse. The pot/cone part works well for holding stones and the openings are large enough for ample root expansion. The plastic is heavy enough to hold the weight on the stones and plants as they get larger. They hold to the buckets well but will pop off as needed. This is a great way to inexpensively see if aquaponics will work you and they grow plants long term. We love them!

                  Good for the Hydrophonic enthusiasts.
The Viagrow 6 in. Net Pot bucket lid is really good and heavy duty. The mesh pot creates very good aeration, which is great for root development If you are in the market for hydroponic horticulture, this product is good for you. Since it is black, it can resist the growth of algae. You also need to buy 5 or 3 1/2 gallon Black buckets to keep the sunlight out. Overall, it is a good product and the price is fair.

                  Excellent innovation, Excellent
I don't know about you guys and girls, but I often sit on these buckets, and in doing so the sides collapse, another basket for the dumpster. But now, and legally a quandary the challenge has been resolved. Plus it will help keep your portable tool box private, even strain some liquids. But I digress, buy these Buckket lids, best money you will spend in a long time.

Heavy duty lids for standard buckets
These lids are large enough to use with a standard 3.5 or 5 gallon bucket for hydroponic growing needs. They will be used with the Viagrow 10 oz. Micro Charge packs as well. They are sturdy and the "cage" section is deep with somewhat large holes for root growth. Water can easily flow through the holes and should allow for solution and water movement.

                  Sturdy and Ready to Grow.
These pots are much sturdier than I expected. Definitely not a single season use item. With proper care you should be able to get many years of service from these pots. They fit perfectly on the top of a 5 gallon bucket (I used a Home Depot bucket.) Perfect fit. No gaps or warping around the rim. The thick black plastic will assist in heat retention and help mitigate water evaporation. The plastic mesh is certainly the right size to allow maximum root growth. With the addition of some growing media stones, you will be able to quickly and easily grow your favorite plant. An incredibly easy and inexpensive way to get into hydroponics. Big thumbs up!

                  Cant wait for spring.
This is going to be a new project for me come spring. Using these Viagrow bucket lids to see what I can grow via hydroponics. I have a lot of research to do to prepare for planting and what plants are compatible. The lids are made from plastic and fit on a standard HD bucket. There is a mesh molded into the lid that drops down so the roots of the plant are submerged in nutrient infused water. The lids are black and should help keep the water warm to stimulate growth. cant wait for spring to come so I can get started.

                  sturdy tops
I lack a green thumb but I keep trying. Planted some seeds from dinner scraps a couple years ago. Produced the medley type small tomatoes and the small sweet peppers, until the aphids found them. So this time I'm going to try some indoor hydroponics. These lids are my starting point. As stated by the manufacturer they will fit 3.5 and 5 gallon buckets. I find they also fit my 6.5 gallon fermentation buckets which may be handy for when they are no longer suitable for brewing. The net pot lids are sturdy plastic construction and fit perfectly on the bucket rims. They snap in place but are not difficult to remove. No prying as with regular bucket lids. I think this will be a plus when it's time to change the water.
