Jules Edison 16.5 in. 2-Light Brass Gold Cylinder Iron/Seeded Glass Farmhouse Contemporary LED Vanity Light

This farmhouse contemporary light fixture fits on well with my overall home décor. It has the sleek black look I appreciate and can be mounted with the lights on any position you would like. I have an unusual location for installing a vanity light. The foyer at the top of the stairs is compact, largely under the roof pitch (1.5 story house design) and has four doorways to work around. The horizontal installation option lets me fit this light into the small wall space above the swing of a door on the only flat wall available. Please note in my images that the foyer is getting drywall work and still needs paint. It looks a bit overly yellow, but it’s just freshly stripped wallpaper residue and thickly applied drywall mud fill. The light fixture comes with two lightly amber LED bulbs which is great since this unit takes T45 bulbs which are shorter and slimmer than standard A19 bulbs. I think this will work well in my foyer when the walls are finished and finally painted. The glass sconces have a bubbled effect which shows against the wall close to the fixture but does not show up further away. I like the texture it gives the lamp. I think smooth glass would look far less appealing. Installation was very easy once I had a new wall light fixture box installed. You will want to use a larger round receptacle box for this unit. I always replace the small wire nuts that come with these fixtures for more standard ones since I’m hooking up directly to 12g wires. Things I noticed during installation: a little difficulty installing the glass sconces on the base and the narrow width of the sconces. There is a metal cap which screws over the ceramic receptacle to hold the glass in place. I found it to be a little difficult to replace. It had a tendency to tilt and jam. The narrow sconces also made it impossible to install without getting handprints all over the inside. You’ll want to clean it before installing the bulbs. If you have large hands, it could be difficult to install the glass. All in all, I love the fixture and can’t wait to get it permanently installed when the room is finished.

This is an attractive light fixture that I installed in a bathroom above a mirrored medicine chest. The Edison bulbs it comes with are too dim and too yellow to be acceptable as a vanity light.   This light fixture is UL listed and installation was straight forward. If you are not comfortable working with electricity, please hire an electrician! If you are going to do this yourself, I recommend using better wire nuts. Also, there is NO chain enclosed.   While most of this fixture is well made, the fasteners for the glass shades are flimsy and hard to thread.

Mounting screws are made of very soft metal and the heads round out easily if the electrical box has tight fittings. Very difficult to install as a result. Lights are also dim for a vanity.

Delivery delayed by many days, and quality not there. Mechanism to hold the seeded glass shades in place, which were badly scratched BTW, would not screw on properly and sat crooked, which made the whole fixture look crooked. Tried several times to make it work, as I love the look of these, but to no avail. Returning and I will continue my search.
