maybe we chose to use the plastic channels made for glass block, they come in different widths, between the blocks and the wood First we dry framed the glass blocks with the plastic rails then dry framed the wood around the rails and blocks then carefully marked and measured where they met then disassembled it screwed the plastic frames to the wood, very short screws, then reassembled the whole thing glueing the glass blocks together and then the plastic rails to the glass blocks as we worked then gun nailed or screwed the wood frame together then let it dry for a day then installed it sounds complex but worked for us we built 4 windows this way we used cedar as the windows will get wet

after seeing how well it worked on glass blocks we used this to secure ceramic tile and river rock tile to concrete backer board on a bathroom countertop and backsplash on sheet rock with the paint sanded off first it worked well and was less labor intensive than thinset at $14 a tube we used it wisely
