About This Product

Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) 4 in. x 100 ft. Singlewall Perforated Drain Pipe with Filter Sock provides superior strength while its high density polyethylene (HDPE) construction allows the corrugated pipe to be a flexible, light weight solution for your outdoor drainage project. The pipe can be connected using either a variety of 4 in. singlewall fittings including tees, wyes, elbows, or couplers. This ADS perforated singlewall pipe with filter sock is designed with fine cut slots to allow water to enter the pipe and be conveyed to an outlet, and the nylon sock adds an extra layer of protection to prevent sediment infiltration while still allowing the water to flow through.

Highlights

  • Made of High-density polyethylene construction that resists corrosion and abrasion
  • Polyester fibers are knitted to create a superior protective covering for perforated drainage pipe to prevent migration of native soil into imported backfill and pipe
  • Strong, Durable construction helps withstand weather and human elements, and does not become brittle over time
  • Flexible polyethylene construction installs with ease in uneven terrain
  • Lightweight and flexible for easy installation
  • Installed in culverts, parking lots and highway edge drains
  • Pipe is wrapped in a filter sock to prevent sediment build up
  • Minimum burial depth for typical auto/truck traffic: 12"; Maximum burial depth 48". Burial depth is determined from the top of the pipe in the trench to surface grade (dirt) level. The above burial levels are for general purposes only.
  • Understanding the best burial depth for corrugated drainpipes is important for their effectiveness. Other factors (such as paving, traffic, back-fill materials, compaction, flotation, etc.) may come into play. Consumers should check their local codes, adspipe.com, and/or seek local advice for their particular application prior to purchasing. See Installation Guide available on this webpage for more details.
  • Approximate coil size: 23" x 48"

Does it matter how the pipe is oriented in the trench? Is it stronger with the green line at the top so the pipe seams are at the sides of the pipe? I saw a YouTube video suggesting this and wondered if it had any validity. Thanks

According to the Installation Guide for this product, a minimum 20-inch wide trench is required. At 18 inches deep, that would be over 9 cubic yards of excavated dirt per 100 ft. Does the trench really need to be this wide?

Hello Richard, Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The installation guide specifies that the trench should only be as wide as necessary to compact backfill around the pipe, and not wider. A wider trench increases the soil load on the pipe. The minimum width should be the greater of either the pipe's outside diameter plus 16 inches, or the pipe's outside diameter times 1.25, plus 12 inches. Since this is a 4-inch pipe, that means the minimum trench width is 17 inches (4" * 1.25 + 12"). We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

What size is the perforations? I'm trying to determine gravel size for a french drain. The sock should prevent small gravel getting in I'd imagine, but I'd like to try to size the gravel if there happens to be a hole in the sock.

      Great "French Drain"
This pipe is very easy to work with. My builder said to use 3" and Home Depot is the only place you can get it. The boot is excellent in keeping the dirt out but letting the water through. I ordered 3 rolls to put all the way around my house on the foundation and against the crawlspace wall. Then I covered it with gravel. The first picture is of the pipe in the "ditch" and the second is of the water flowing out during a heavy rainstorm after I put the pipe in.

It's a lot of money for a sock, but it is easy to work with and the 3" diameter is actually more than I needed for my special project (drainage under rockboard foundation insulation).

      Working as intended.
Had a large "low spot" behind the barn that never got completely dried out. Trenched and installed this pipe (with appropriate gravel base/cover) and in the last couple of storms, water has drained away within a couple hours, not a couple days. Having the fabric sock already installed saved a *TONNE* of time, well worth the cost (I've helped put socks on pipe before - less fun than it sounds). ONLY nit i would pick with this is the thinness of the actual pipe, was actually expecting a more robust construction at this price. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

      Best drain pipe ever used
Had a bad drainage problem with water sheeting completely under the house and up to a depth of 6 inches at times. Used this drain pipe to install a french drain and despite heavy rains have had no further water problems whatsoever. This product is absolutely wonderful!!! It exceeded all my expectations.
