Can this be used outside on patio?

Don’t know the BYU’s but the watts are 700 to 1500.

No, it just keeps running until you shut it off. It is very simple to use. The red switch is on/off and the dial is to turn it up from low heat to high heat. It didn't add much at all to our electric bill to even notice it.
