I am replacing screen on an outdoor screen house in Maine. I need something strong. That is very much translucent for great visibility. Strength and visibility are my highest priorities. What is the best model number for this?

          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

There is a trade off with visibility and strength unfortunately. For visibility Ultavue2, for strength Tuffscreen or settle in middle with fiberglass 18x14 pool and patio material.

Thank you for your question. This particular screen, model 3000063 is the Pool & Patio screen for standard insect protection. If you are looking for No-See-Um protection the 20x20 mesh No-See-Um products are what you likely need. The 84"x100' roll of No-See-Um is model 3003523. Thank you.

It was very easy to find the product I needed for my refreshing the screening on my patio. The size that was offered and the length was spot on. The delivery was fast.

Easy to handle, it is the size of a large screen. The material is very easy to cut. I used the old spline because the one included was too thin for the screen frame. I recommend to remove the old spline carefully in case you may need it.

                    Thicker spline
I bought the exact same kit today. The spline included in the new kit is noticeably thicker. It would not fit in the grooves. I had to purchase seperate spline for $6.98 (629219044669) from Home Depot. Spline came with the kit is now a waste.

This product was no harder to install than a normal screen. I used the same spline on my pool screened enclosure that I normally use. It has held up for a couple of months so far with no problems. Keeps rain from blowing in on my grill and gives a little more privacy from the neighbors.

I recently purchased the Phifer 60 in. x 96 in. Charcoal Fiberglass Screen to replace a damaged screen on my back porch, and I’ve been very satisfied with the results. The first thing I noticed was the durable fiberglass material—it has a good balance of flexibility and sturdiness, making it easy to work with during installation while still feeling strong enough to withstand daily wear. The charcoal color is another plus, as it provides good visibility from the inside while still offering a bit of privacy from the outside. It also does a great job of reducing glare from sunlight without making things too dark indoors. What I liked most was how easy it was to cut and fit without fraying excessively. The mesh is fine enough to keep out small insects like gnats and mosquitoes, which was a must-have for my area. I also appreciate that it doesn’t sag after being stretched in place.Overall, it completely met my expectations. I wanted a screen that was easy to work with, looked clean and professional once installed, and would keep the bugs out—and this delivered on all counts.

I bought this spool of screening to redo my entire sunroom and 2 damaged bedroom screens. I had never redone a screen, but the price was too good to pass up the opportunity to learn how. I was able to replace 8 window screens using the roll of screen, the provided tool and the included spline. It was much easier than expected.

                      Not properly produced
I ordered two of these yesterday. Some parts of the screen look like it is tangled. The quality looks very bad; see images. Installation was hard thus I cannot replace them anymore.

                        Good screen, Spline too thick.
We used this same product 4 years ago. We bought the exact same kit today. The spline included in the new kit is noticeably thicker then the older version. It would not fit in the grooves of the door. We had to dig the old spline , from our repair 4 years ago, out of the garbage and complete the repair that way.

Used to cover a sump pump well, to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the water.

                          Included spline is too thick
I could not fit the included spline into the track, even after stretching it to make it thinner. I went to a glass shop and asked for smaller spline, I was told they only had one size, .016” same as the kit. I showed him the spline that came with the kit and he said it was garbage and impossible to use. He sold me his .016” spline and it is a completely different material - thinner foam spline rather than thick rubber. It is identical to the spline I removed from my door. The thick rubber spline that comes in the kit is too thick to install. Glass specialist says the spline he provided is the only spline he has ever used in every frame for securing screens. It worked for me as well, install was fairly easy once I had the correct spline.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear that the spline included in the kit did not work as expected. Spline sizes and materials can indeed vary depending on the window size and manufacturer. We appreciate your feedback on the material differences and are glad to hear that you found a suitable solution.
