Yes, can be rolled on or brushed on.
Do not use the Copper Green Brown Wood Preservative if needed to be applied on the interior. The product has a pungent odor that takes quite a while to disapate. I would recommend our "Green's Water Based Wood Preservative". Their is hardly any smell and can be used indoors.
Dip treating is only the best option. You may treat the wood by using a brush. Recommend doing 2 coats within an hour.
I did some research and found no evidence that copper naphthanate is a problem for vegetable garden beds. A little copper can migrate into the soil, but little is taken up by plants. If you are concerned, you can line the treated wood with thick plastic sheeting.
The compound used to treat lumber goes about 1/4 inch into the wood, maybe more but sometimes a little less. So if you sand it lightly, it should be okay without treating with the copper naphthenate.. All cut ends should be treated.
No, the treated lumber should have penetrated down into the lumber.
After thorough drying, you can paint over with oil based paint. You cannot apply it to wet wood.
Yes you can paint over with an oil based paint or primer. The wood has to be dry. Product will not penetrate the wet wood.
I would probably not coat the entire trellis. This is a serious rot preventing chemical so I'd just coat where the trellis in in contact with the earth.
I would.. Studies show that the copper naphthalate is not very mobile in most soils. It is not the older arsenic blend. It is oil-borne so is difficult to leach from the wood. It has low toxicity. And the amounts required to kill a plant would be huge. This is my opinion only. I cannot find detailed information regarding the affect on plants other than general comments about it not being an issue from various research agencies and groups.
Yes. You can, however Copper Green-Brown has a oily pungent odor that lingers. You might want to try Copper White instead. This product yields the same results but without the smell. It is chemical-based.
24 to 48 hours.
In my application I've allowed overnight dry time with great results.
I doused the dry rotted window framing members after removing the chunks and dust of the damaged wood. It is day three and the wood still seeps preservative if under pressure. The affected window faces north and at no time does sunlight hit it directly. I will allow two more days before reconstructing the frame.
For me it's just been an hour or two. It's very thin and soaks into wood and dries pretty quickly.
