While these tiles are durable and suitable for garage floors as workout flooring, it's not recommended to park your car on them. The weight of the car could potentially damage the tiles over time. They are designed primarily for gym or exercise areas, where they provide cushioning and shock absorption for workouts.
This product is labeled as suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. However, it's designed to be installed on a hard, flat surface. While it can withstand outdoor conditions, using it around a pool might not be ideal. The area around pools can experience frequent splashing and wetness, which could affect the tiles, and the textured surface may not be the most comfortable for bare feet. You may want to consider a material specifically designed for pool decks that offers better slip resistance and water drainage.
A 9x8 room is 72 square feet. One box of tiles covers 13.5 square feet. Therefore, you would need 72 / 13.5 = 5.33 boxes. Since you can't buy parts of boxes, you'll need to purchase 6 boxes to cover the entire area.
No tape or glue needed. They are heavy enough you just lay them down and connect them together. I’ve never had any issues, these are great for a gym floor. I’ve had for a couple years.
No, I just fitted together and they are heavy enough to stay in place
Nothing needed to hold these down. The weight and tackiness of the rubber will keep these from sliding. There is a small beveled edge included with each box that is used to butt against walls or doorways. Since these are 18 x 18 you kind of have to center them to the size of your room because you really don't want to have to cut them because than the beveled edge will not fit.
They can just lay down, and from my experience don't move a whole lot. The rubber material helps with this. However, you might want to use some good quality double-sided rug tape to really hold them down. I don't think there is any sort of tapered edge available for these, but they have edge pieces which makes them a "straight edge." These aren't particularly thick though, so it doesn't create much of a lip. You can even cut the pieces to fit in a particular area with relative ease. I've used a utility knife to do this to make them a more customized size. Even done that with the edge pieces. These mats are generally ok, but the really heavy duty mats can be found at other stores that sell "horse stall" mats. Those are the much thicker, commercial gym quality mats a lot of people might be looking for (yet they are also massively heavy and a bit of pain to initially get into a room). I use a horse mat in my main gym area, and these around the edges to expand the effective workout area.
