The DEWALT 20 in. Variable-Speed Scroll Saw helps you create accurate, detailed workpieces. This professional scroll-saw has a user-friendly configuration with easily accessible controls, reduced vibration design, and variable-speed performance. The scroll saw features a double parallel-link arm design for accurate cuts, the arm pivots from the back to the front, shortening the distance the arm moves for smoother, quieter operation. The dependable 1.3 Amp. motor delivers 400 to 1750 SPM for plenty of power, while the compact design of this small scroll saw makes portability around your jobsite or workshop a breeze. Durable for years of reliable use, this DEWALT scroll saw has a cast iron table that bevels 45° to the left and 45° to the right for versatility and excellent support. The blade on my dewalt scroll saw does not travel straight up and down but moves forward and back about 1/8” per stroke. Is this normal, if not is there a way to correct this issue?

      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

The blade on a DEWALT DW788 scroll saw should move in a controlled, front-to-back arc, with minimal side-to-side flexing. The blade should be properly tensioned to prevent wobble and snapping, and the teeth must always point down toward the table.

How do you get the air tube back on the saw? The first plastic connector broke off. Now I can’t get the air tube to fit back on the saw.

                      Excellent!
I am new to the Scroll Saw so I was going to purchase a smaller one till I get used to it. But my friend suggested to get the DeWalt Scroll Saw or better one. I am so happy I got the DeWalt Scroll Saw! I like the large work table, quite operation unlike table saw or miter saw. I had a hard time assembling the stand but found a good YouTube video whose instruction was to start from the bottom upside down.

Poor quality control. Bad technical support.
Set up this past weekend and found the distance between the upper and lower blade mounts was wider than the length of the saw blade when the tensioner was disengaged , so you couldnt mount the blade. Contacted dewalt customer service stating all the steps i had taken to troubleshoot. Their response? To take all the steps i had already told them i had taken.

                          Great saw very heavy duty
I bought this a few months ago for some simple projects around the house. Overall this is a great tool my only issue is the air pipe almost immediately cracked where it connects to the tool. It is still usable, but not thrilled it broke so easily. That said aside from that the tool has preformed wonderfully and I would buy it again. I also got the stand for it which is really nice.

                            Broken out of the box.
Broken out of the box. After reading instructions I began assembly. Right away I found the flexible articulated hard plastic line for air to keep the workpiece clean was broken. Sure it is modular and all I had to do was remove the broken end and put the unit back in place, but it was broken on arrival from some knuckle dragging ape in the factory jamming the thing on wrong and snapping it. Now it works but its almost an inch shorter and I shouldn't have had to fix it to start with!!! I plugged it in and nothing happened when switched on. After inspection it was missing the replaceable fuse. Not burned out but just never installed. I'm started to wonder if this unit wasn't a return that was repackaged and resold as new.

                              Lacking Quality Control
I bought this saw last week and finally got time to set it up yesterday. So far I'm happy with it, but it came with a considerable scratch on the table. For the price point, I expect it to be in perfect condition because, afterall, it is a brand new product.

                                5 stars all the way!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this Scroll Saw for 5+ years and it has worked great! I had to replace the fuse twice over the years but that is expected. Just recently I had the dust blower arm come off and am having a heck of a time getting it back on, if y'all have any ideas on how to get it back on I would appreciate the help.

                                  RIGHT OF THE BAT PROBLEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I opened the box and right from the start broken bevel lock knob. The knob to tilt the table was broken. I call DeWalt, the lady said oh we can't look up the part right now give me your email. Now I'm thinking this is not good service or quality control maybe I should just return it. Bottom line you buy equipment and now have to wait to fix it.
