Hi David! So that you know, the chimney starter should be filled to your grilling needs. It would also depend on the brand of briquettes and the cooking style (Indirect vs. Direct). Please reach out to Weber directly for additional assistance with using the compact chimney starter. Thank you!
Hi! You can fill the chimney with charcoal to the top. If you aren’t cooking as much food, you can use less charcoal.
Hi, thank you for your interest! Over time, rust could appear due to the metal heating up and cooling down. Our accessories carry a 2-year warranty and we are always here to help!
Yes there is a large and a small one. The compact is for the Smokey Joe travel grill.
Hello! Thank you for your interest in our Compact RapidFire Chimney starter. We have a smaller version that would be part number 7447. Then we have a larger version that would be part number 7416. If you have further questions please contact our support team. Thanks!
There is a full-size and a compact size. We found the full-size to be way too big for our family of 4 so took it back and ordered the compact which was just right for our typical grilling. The larger one would be recommended if you are grilling for a crowd.
Unfortunately not; made in Taiwan :(
No, made in China.
Yes.
Hello, this chimney starter is made in China, and carries a 2 year warranty. Thanks.
Not sure - if so, it would be very tight. We do not have our Smokey joe anymore.
It should. I have a VERY LARGE Smoker and a standard size charcoal grill. It lays down just fine in both.
It is too large to lay on the cooking grate and have the lid it. If you remove the cooking grate it can sit on the charcoal grate and the lid will then close.
I do not believe it will fit inside. I do not have mine with me, but it is around twelve inches high and about eight inches across the base and sides without the handle. It may work if the handles were removed. I don't think the Smokey Joe is high enough for it to fit.
Hello Tom, no, this chimney starter will not fit inside of a Smokey Joe for storage. Thanks.
No. Instructions says not to use any axcelarent or self lighting charcoal.
Yes, but why would you need to? Its literally just as fast and easy without.
I don't know whether you could use the Match Light charcoal, but I do know that defeats the purpose of having the chimney starter. Match Light will start on it's own, just using a match. The chimney starter was designed so you don't need any starter fluid whether separate from the charcoal or contained within it like with Match Light. All you need is a piece of newspaper at the bottom of the chimney to start the charcoal. This saves the expense of lighter fluid or the additional expense of the Match Light charcoal. All you will need are just plain charcoal briquettes saving money over the very expensive Match Light charcoal.
Dear Christ, please, no.... I mean you could, but why?
Sure, but you really don't need to. A little paper (I usually just rip off a portion of the charcoal bag) will get regular charcoal lit without a problem.
You could, but there is a little roll of starter material which works well, tumbleweed bundle. Never have a problem lighting it.
Yes, but its designed so you don’t need lighter fluid/pre-soaked briquettes. A single Weber paraffin cube placed under the chimney filled with briquettes or lump hardwood works best.
The whole point in using a charcoal chimney starter is that you can get away from the nasty flavor that lighter fluid imparts to the food. Regular charcoal and newspaper will do a great job. As far as whether you can use it I guess you can but why would you want to?
Hi BBQDiva! We do not recommend using Match Light charcoal, or any other charcoal impregnated with lighter fluid, in our chimney starters. Thanks!
Yes, but it is not necessary and defeats the purpose of the chimney cleanly lighting charcoal with no petroleum products. Match Light charcoal contains petroleum products so it will light without any starter. You don't need a chimney if you are using Match Light charcoal.
You will have to ask Home depot that. I don't know if they ship overseas. The product is great though.
We are an end user not a manufacturer nor a distributer. These things work great!
This isn't a question for me because i'm just a consumer, but i will say 1 thing, these chimney starters are great but i should have gotten the bigger one because this one is kinda small, Homedepot should answer your question about shipping overseas, i'm sorry & Good Luck . . .
This is a question about Home Depot policy, not about the product (which is a great product). Call your local Home Depot store for an answer to your question.
Yes, I bought this when I purchased my bar-b-que pit. I love it. You put a few pieces of charcoal in it and light it. The ventilation pattern allows the fire to start rapidly. I used to always struggle when lighting the pit. Not anymore!
