The ends of the cover have three flaps secured by velcro so that the metal rack supports can come through the cover. This allows the cover to slide down the rack supports as the wood is used and stay covered.

Are there velcro openings to access the wood? And is there a way to secure the cover to the rack?
Kimba, yes there are velcro openings to access the wood. This same velcro system secures the cover to the rack.
The wood is easy to access simply by lifting the edge of the cover. However there are velcro strips. And yes, it is secured to the rack on either end. If you look closely you will see it wraps around the rack ends so it slides down as the level of the wood drops and this also prevents it from coming off. I did put a few logs on top though to keep the wind from lifting it.

The cover secures on each end of the rack with a center flap that goes through your rack bars, around the bars, and secures to the sides of the cover with velcro. There is no center velcro. You may be able to lift the cover somewhat, but for real access you'd have to undo this flap on one end or the other. Pretty quick though.
