I bought this bit but the hole at the base of the neck on the shaft has nothing with it to hold the pilot bit in place.

Do you use the hammer/drill function with this bit? I have a Dewalt hammer drill and I don't think it has a drill only function. I think it is either hammer or hammer/drill. Thanks
